I have been lurking on this site for a while, but today I felt the urge to do some digi scrapping so I came here to download some templates. I haven't done any digi scrapping for a while so I'm quite excited. If anyone has any advice or tips I'd love to hear from you.

Hi, welcome to SSD!!!! I second Heather... the challenges are fun and gives you a starting point for your page!! Can't wait to see your work!

Thanks for the welcome...

and already I have a question, I was happily following along a tutorial from Mist Cato's blog until I hit a snag, when I tried to do the journalling on the template I was using I couldn't remove the "tell your story here", am I being dumb (cos that's quite possible) or is there a trick to this ?
Thanks heaps in advance.

That is probably a layer that the template maker put in to suggest journaling placement. You can delete it by clicking on it in the layers palette and dragging it to the little trash icon at the bottom of the palette.

There is a possibility that it is a text layer, in which case you may be able to replace the text with your own using the text tool. If you let me know what template you are using, I can let you know.

Thanks for replying Misty, it is one of Darcy Baldwin's "I love my CT4" templates, I tried deleting the journal box but the writing stayed put. I'm using the PSD file.

I just took a look at that set of templates. The journaling layer needs to be deleted. The box and the text are in two different layers, so I think you were deleting the wrong one. Depending on which template in the set, the journaling layer is either named 'journaling' or 'words'.

If you right click on the 'journaling' layer in the layers palette, you can select 'delete layer' from the fly out menu (see below).

Let me know if it works.
