Filter Queen...

Does anyone have one of these vacuums? How do you like it??

About a month ago, I took a phone survey and was entered into a draw. Apparently I won something (I think everyone "wins", lol), and they brought out my $100 gift card today. They also brought along their product to demonstrate (no obligation to buy) for us. One presentation was explaining the problem of indoor air pollution and they showed us how much dust floats in our air. Then they smacked our coach and shone a light on it to show us how much dirt was in it. It was truly DISGUSTING how much dust was floating in the air!

Then they demonstrated the FilterQueen vacuum, and it was AMAZING. Seriously. They sucked up 10 plastic grocery bags and then added some attachment to restrict its airflow, then vacuumed a part of my laminate (which I'd just swept) and the little filter had SO much dirt on it. Then they did a small portion of carpet (like 2x2), and it was shocking how much dirt came out. Like a handful!

Then I vacuumed my whole living room floor (which I vacuumed yesterday), and when he opened the canister up, there was so much dirt, I was just sick!! I couldn't believe that was in my carpet. I actually *almost* started to cry (he says lots of people do that because its just so shocking).

Not even half way through the presentation, I was sold. I have been fighting with the dust in my house for years and have tried everything to get rid of it. My vacuum spits out just as much dirt as it sucks in (or spits out more - it was gross), so I'd vacuum, and the dust would settle right back. I would literally sit down 1/2 hour after dusting, and there would be a layer on the desk already!!

I have to say - this vacuum is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I am actually excited to vacuum now (is that sad??). It was expensive, but we got a one time deal that we got the air cleaner for free if we gave them our old vacuum (which we got for $150 5 years ago - it was an awesome trade, lol). I am so excited, lol!!

Ive never heard of it but I have the same problem with dust in my house. I read somewhere though that like 90% of dust is actually dead skin cells (YUCK!!)

My parents bought one years ago, they seemed to like it although the style back then isn't the easiest to use, it's kind of a pain actually. I'm not sure what the style is of theirs now though.

I have an ancient Filter Queen, from Des' parents. They gave it to us when they put their central vac in. I love it, although it is old and clunky.
{this is what mine looks like}

Sonja - mine looks really similar (obviously they haven't changed the style, lol), but its black and green :).

My FAVE features are the new ergonomic handle, the updated hose (its not ever supposed to crack, break, puncture, but is quite flexible), and the fact that all the cords for the powerhead are housed inside the wand (my old Rainbow has the stupid cord outside and is always falling off mid vacuum!), and that it has a lifetime gaurantee - if it ever breaks, they'll replace it free of charge AND that I can pass it down to my kids, and it will be a lifetime gaurantee for them too...

those things are indestructable! :p

My grand-parents and my parents had the same model as shown by tuneskids from when my father sold them, mid 70's.

When my grandfather died in 2006, we gave his away. It was still working perfectly! My mother gave hers because she has fybromyalgia and it was too hard to drag around.

It's a good purchase, imo! :thumbup:
