Buying a cell on eBay?

Anyone done it? I am ready to upgrade finally from my old $30 Samsung Flip phone that is 4 years old to a Blackberry.

I figure it's cheaper for me to buy a phone, then get it activated.

I appreciate any advice anyone can give me here, and let me know if there's anything I should look for specifically!

I can't help you with specifics but my sister bought a BB on Ebay & also most of her accessories for it on Ebay. I also have a BB Curve but bought it through my wireless company. She hasn't had any problems with her phone at all & loves it!
 
Just make sure it says it's unlocked or with the company you are using Jamie. Otherwise, it's pretty much worthless.
 
We bought one on Ebay once and when we went to activate it, they told us that there was a claim on it, so they couldn't activate it. I would just make sure to get the serial number (I think that's what we needed) and call your carrier and make sure that it's one they can activate, since they can trace it.
 
Thanks guys. I'm not impressed with how much my carrier wants to charge. I kind of want to do a pay as I go plan, if that's possible, so I have to look into some things first.
 
If you're looking for a cheap pay-as-you-go, you should check out the PC Mobile ones a Superstore (it may be Dominion where you are). They're on the same network as Bell Mobility. You can buy the phones and top-up cards in the actual store or online.
