Calendar Printing?

Hey everyone!
I am making 8.5x11 calendars for gifts this year...i want to do the two-page kind, so there's plenty of room to write activities in the calendar grids.

Does anyone know where I can get these printed? I guess a real "planner" style would require printing on both sides, right? (I don't mind getting it bound myself at a copy store).

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I got mine last year from Artscow. They are really nice!!! However, if you want them for Christmas gifts, I would recommend ordering them within the next 2 weeks to ensure you get them. They lost part of my order last year and it took a while to get them all. I got the last 3 I ordered on Christmas Eve day. I think I ordered right at the beginning of December.

Shutterfly's 8.5x11 calendars are really really nice, that is where I have ordered mine in the past and the grandparents LOVED them! You do have to use their grids on the bottom though, but you can personalize them with your own dates and stuff. I believe MPix is the place where you can use your own grids on the bottom, but I think they are more expensive than Shutterfly or Artscow. Or you could print your pages at any place that does printing like Staples, Office Max, Kinko's etc. and they will also bind them for you. The first year I made calendars I had them printed/bound at Office Max and they were nice but I prefer the Shutterfly ones :)

I'd love one for myself. Can I see pics of ones you all have done in the past to get an idea? I need plenty of room to write and would prefer a planner type, not hang on the wall type.

On the Shabby Princess site she has examples of a bunch of calendars that she has done on her Calendar Information page. She has used her 8.5x11 one page calendars (not the kind with the tops/bottoms) and bound them along the side to use for a desk planner. You could use any 8.5x11 calendar (I don't see any in that style here @ SSD though) or you could make your own pages with calendar grids and then print them & have them bound.

I just got mine back from Shutterfly - and they turned out great! had to jump on one of their early deals - my calendars last year got stuck in our December snowstorms and were late delivered in January.

However, when I was making color copies at FedEx Kinkos, turns out they will make a calendar for around $4.99/each! not the same wire type binding, but the plastic, with clear or frosted cover, solid back, and 60-80 weight interior paper. You bring them the pages you want for the interior on a disk or flash drive, both sides, top and grid, and they will print out a proof for you, then your copies. Awesome. Haven't done this yet, but will next week!

Sounds good Nettie! I have used Shutterfly and Artscow and was happy with both. Got SF first, then Atrscow for the ability to customize the bottom (grids).

Mpix is where I've gotten mine done the last 2 years. They turned out wonderful. I had a friend of mine do hers at Artscow, also really nice quality.

I have to do a bunch, so I'm ok with cheap! I'll definitely try out Fed Ex (Kinko's)...would be great to get them knocked out like that quickly and in one place!

Thanks for the tips everyone!!

I've done mine at Shutterfly the last few years and been very happy with them. If you're going to have them done soon, it's worth checking Shutterfly for deals. I make sure to finish mine during October so I can take advantage of their deal: Buy 1 at full price ($20) and get all additional copies of the same calendar for 1/2 price. Very worth it since I print about 8 copies of the same one! It's supposed to end tonight, but maybe they'll have something else starting tomorrow.

Beckie,
I have my calendars printed at a local print shop. The paper is really thick coated cardstock (Kromecote) and the image quality is quite nice. You're welcome to check out mine if you'd like. I've had mine printed here for 3 or 4 years now. They run around $12-14 each.

The calendars are not full-bleed at this price, though. Meaning there will be an 1/8 inch white space around your page. This doesn't bother me, but it might be an issue for some. Let me know if you want info on this place

Oh, and I also get LOs printed there from time to time as well -
8x8 - around 79 cents, depending on how many I have done
12x12 - around 89 cents, again depending on how many I have done
- - - I do have to cut these myself though.

Good luck, hon!

whoa nellie! a local place with 12x12 prints for less than a buck?? can you PM me with the info please!!

thanks so much Christine!!

Melissa has QP calendars in the store - tops and bottoms. These are what I used last year and they turned out GREAT!!!

Melissa's are really cute! I used them this year, and had them printed at Artscow, alot of the colors were printed too vivid/over saturated. If I had it to do again, I would try MyPicTales as they have a 40% off sale on right now.

If printing from artscow they have 2 deals going on:

2010CAL12M=1st Calendar is $4.99 and subsequent calendars are $7.99 all with FREE shipping (one time use coupon) Expires: 15 Nov or at 2,000 orders

CDR997=unlimited calendars for $9.97 each with FREE shipping. Can reuse.

I used both coupons since I am now living in Japan and it wouldn't make sense for my calendars to get shipped to me directly just so I would then have to ship them to the states for additional mailing costs! And with being overseas I have a deadline date for xmas!

I jumped on this deal when I saw it. I had made our calendars last week, but when I went to check out, they wanted to charge me $30+ for shipping. Crazy! I ended up buying 4 -- one for each set of grandparents, and 2 different styles for our family.

Now to hope they get here in a timely manner. I ordered our Christmas cards from them 2 weeks ago and they still haven't arrived.
