Hey Hey Chicklets!

The newest issue of Simply Sweet should be in the shoppe next weekend, but we need your help for our Ask SSD feature! Sooooo....

If you have a burning question for any of our designers or sugarbabes OR if you have a question about the site as a whole, post it along with your first name and location here in this thread. If we use your question in the upcoming issue, we'll send you a coupon to grab Simply Sweet: OH Baby! on us!

We'll be choosing questions for the issue on Sunday morning, so all submissions need to be posted in this thread no later than tomorrow night by midnight. Feel free to post more than one question in your post too, if we choose any of them, the free issue is YOURS!

5-6 lucky winners are out there - YOU should be one of them, so ask away!

We're looking forward to hearing from you!
Robin

For the designers:

I know that sometimes putting a product/kit together can take a lot of your time. Because of this, do you find it hard to scrap your own memories with the products/kits you create because you are ready to move on to something new?

For Robin:

What did you do B.S.S.D. (Before Sweet Shoppe Designs)? Do you ever miss it?

Where did you learn the skills to be a designer? Was it from scrapping first or did you have some formal training?

Julie from Colorado

i'll play :) :

if you had to create a page and could only use two elements, which two would you pick? i.e. button, ribbon, flower, stamp, etc.

which is more difficult for you to scrap, a multi-photo layout or a single photo layout? do you find yourself using a template or another page for inspiration for the more difficult one?

Holly from Ohio:

To All Designers:
I've noticed a lot of you have kids, so when do you find time to create kits and scrap your own memories?

Kim from Texas:

For the Sugarbabes, how do you get started / where do you find your inspiration for a layout when you don't have a template to work with?

To the designers: What do you love most about working on Two Scoops or Triple Scoops?

To the Sugarbabes: Is there anything in particular that you have thought that you would love to learn that would help improve your layouts?

Ill play:

Robin: Did you design before starting SSD? Also what do you look for in prospective sugarbabes?

Jessica in Orlando, Florida

Hmm....

To Designer Heather R... Your kits always hit a "I must need that" button on my pocket book with your theme designs... Where do you get your inspiration from?

To All Designers... For those that want to be on CT teams... what advice do you have for landing the dream spot... and most importantly, what do you really wish your team would/wouldn't do?

To Sugarbabe Cindy S... I'm such a huge fan of your layouts... you are the queen of layering. How do you start your page, do you start with background and build up, or do you start with the elements and then go back and add the paper?

To all Sugarbabes... have you found your style changing that now you are a sugar babe? Do you feel the pressure to create outstanding layouts knowing that you are representing SSD, or do you scrap from the heart as always?

Rebecca from Appleton, Wisconsin

Thanks sooooo much girls! Keep em coming : )

We actually answered a similar question in our last issue about how to be a Babe / what we look for in our Babes. Here's the answer for those of you who may have missed it...

Choosing SugarBabes is one of the hardest decisions we tackle as a team of designers at the Sweet Shoppe. Here are some things we look for when we’re considering SugarBabe candidates.

Overall Gallery - Does your gallery make a great impression as a whole? Do you consistently create well balanced pages with a strong sense of design and personal style?

Font and Titlework - Is your fontwork and journaling polished and appropriately sized? Do you have a good eye for text? Is your titlework creative and inspiring? Do your pages tell a story?

Previous CT Experience - Have our designers been impressed by your performance on their creative teams? Did you meet their requirements & expectations as a CTM? Did you step down on a positive note? Do you have enough time to devote to being a SugarBabe?

Hybrid Babes - Are your projects photographed in a professional manner with good lighting and focus, against clean uncluttered backdrops?

Community Involvement - Do you have a good repuation and attitude in the community? Are you active and involved at SSD? Will you represent our brand well?

Thanks for the question. We hope this list of what we’re looking for helps! - Robin

Maybe it will help some of ya!

Let's see...

Designers what is your favorite holiday, how do you like to celebrate it?

I would love to see each designers favorite kits in the store right now (one of their own, and one other designers)

Lots of good questions here already... For Babes: How do you create most of your layouts - what comes first? Do you start with a pic and create around it or pick a yummy new kit and find a picture to fit your layout (or maybe a little of both)?

For designers: What are your favorite sites/resources for learning to design? (BTW I have no interest in designing myself but know many do!) What inspires you when you create a new kit?

Kim from Texas:

For the Hybridbabes / Jen Tapler:

How do you get your pictures to turn out so clear and crisp? Mine seem to lose quality when I shrink them to the 150k max upload size?

To the Designers

Do you girls have to buy the kits from other designers? OR do you girls just do swaps? Here and all in the community.

For the Babes:
What is your favorite part & the hardest part about being a babe?

Deb in Central Georgia

OOOO...super fun! I wanna play.

For SB- Lynnette: I admire your work so much! You never cease to amaze me with the way your layouts don't just tell a memory but a story. Is this a skill that you have learned over time or is this just in your nature? Any tips on how I can brush up on my story telling skills through my layouts?

Lizzy from Northern Colorado

For Susan: So many of your papers looks like gorgeous lush fabrics and they always make my scrappy senses do a happy dance! Where do you draw the majority of your inspiration from when making scrapping kits?

Lizzy from Northern Colorado

For the Designers: How do you come up with the names of your kits? Some names just make me smile right off the bat and others I think what in the world (in a good way, of course).

For the SugarBabes: How do you guys come up with such wonderful ideas for the daily challenges? Do you all sit around and brainstorm?

For Nikki (nikkiARNGwife): If I see your name on a LO, it's pretty much a guarantee that I'll love it. Where do you find the most inspiration in making a LO?

Thanks!!!!

For all the designers: What do you find the most difficult when starting to design a kit ?

For the Babes: What do you do when the mojo decides to "take a break" ?

Denise from Brazil

Designers: Is designing your full time job/part time job and is it just something that helps you relax and be creative?

Designers: Do you get your inspiration from daily things you see, your children, your pets, your co-workers, the holiday season or current season of the year? Just WHERE do you get that inspiration????

Sugarbabes: Meg: how do you manage all you do here at SSD and manage that big family of yours? :) I have 4 kids, work full time and still find it hard to manage, so wonder how you do it :) What is your SECRET????

Angie from Oak Harbor WA

I have one!

Designers - what do your family and friends think about your designing? Do they support it and view it as a real job, or view it merely as a "hobby"?

Aww, I think that's one of the nicest compliments I've ever gotten. Thanks Lizzy!

Thank you so much Rebecca :wub:

One more for Robin: Obviously SSD is full of great designers who are also active in this fun community, but I see so many SSD scrappers turning to design too... how/when do you decide to add/invite designers? Do the other designers help decide? Do you have designer calls?

I can honestly say EACH designer here at SSD is a super-talent and I love shopping here- just wondering when we may see some new faces... whatever you're doing, it's working! :)

For Robin:

I have been around the digi world for a while and have NEVER encountered a community as strong and close-knit as the SSD forums. To what you do attribute the success of your forums for creating this community?

Sasha from California:

If one wanted to begin creating such awesome kits, where would one first start?

My question is for both the designers and Sugar Babes:

We are all striving to learn and grow in this art. What have you recently learned that has helped you to become better at what you design (layout or kit)? Any "light bulb" moments? Or small "ahhh haaa!" moments?

Heidi

For the designers:

Do you design what you would want to use on your own layouts or what the current "trends" are?

Sara

I've got one...

I love the issues of Simply Sweet and wonder what process you go through to determine the topics, content, and how you pull it all together for each issue. :)
