help me please.. (cleaning)

I swear I've posted this question 90 million times now.. but I have someone really important coming over soon (soon like in a week not soon as in 5 minutes ^_^ ) and I'm just at my wits end with this.. I need my house to uh.. look.. like an adult lives here, not a 5 year old aspiring artist. I've tried so many things to get the black marker (perm. and or sharpie.. ) off the wood in my living room and am just having zero luck. There's not a TON or anything, and hey it may not even be noticable lest I point it out but I dont care .. There's some on the wood paneling walls.. there's some on a door.. and there's some on my wood desk. I need to try to not destroy the wood paneling and door (both have shiney finish).. I do not care about the desk, it's already scruffed up to death..
I've tried, just plain ole soap and water and scrubbing.. I've tried magic erasers.. I've tried nail polish remover (non acetone).. I've tried rubbing alcohol.. I don't know what else to throw at it.. :[ I will say that SOME of it has come off-- all those tries have been over the course of several months.. lol. there is less than there use to be, but I want it GONE. thanks guys..

maybe hair spray.......i know that works with ink!!

Lauren, I so remember those days I can't remember the exact name but I think it's Goo Be Gone that you can get at WalMart that will take off the sharpie. Now I'm not so sure if it would mess with your wood or not? Maybe you could test it in a spot that's not so noticeable? Good luck!

I've heard WD-40 also works... but I'd also test that on the wood before going wild...

I've used WD-40 and dish soap to get greasy purple lip gloss out of a whole load of my girls laundry, it worked great but I had to spray it on and then scrub each little spot on each piece of clothing with an old toothbrush (I was so mad at my girls for all that work I had to do lol) and then wash it all again to get the WD-40 smell out! So it may work on sharpie but you'll have to be careful since it's on wood cause it might strip it. I think Goo Gone is good too, not sure if it will work on sharpie though.

Goof Off...but test it on the wood first. They have it now in a spray bottle form or in the metal pour can (which I think is stronger).

WD-40 works as does finger nail polish remover (although thatll probably strip the wood LOL). Alcohol might work. Maybe some mineral spirits? IDK what else would work. Good luck though!!

Have you tried Mr. Clean Magic Eraser?
