Need Support

Hi girls,

I normally don't complain about things that come my way. But i thought you girls give eachother alot of support from one and other and i can use some of that right now. I usually go to my b.f. but as most of you guys know he can only do and say so much.
Right now I'm in the process of doing alot of things that is a first time for myself you see i have cerebral palsy and i always lived with my parents. My boyfriend and I are looking to buying a house and move out. Parents aren't very supportive on that and me going back to school to finish getting my degree in graphic design. I'm sure they have there reasons .

I'm trying to be strong and not back down and do this but at times it can be hard with all the negative comments. Plus i never met anyone that has a disability like mine or close to it and did everything i hope for.

sorry for the rambling well what i'm really asking for is support or someone to talk to.

I think parents just want what they think is the best for us. You are their little girl I'm sure and my guess is mom is somewhat scared to let ya go. Buying a house is a huge commitment. Do they think that maybe y'all aren't ready for that big step? What about a compromise..like an apt or renting for a year? While I don't think it's always smart to essentially waste money that way but I do believe it's better than signing 30 years into something that might not work out yanno?

It sounds like you have some wonderful dreams.

I would suggest thinking about taking things slowly. Buying a home can be very expensive and trying to go to school will also take money and time. I know when my friends and I were in school, it was nice to be able to have the support of our parents. It was nice to have a place to live while we concentrated on paying for school and working on our school work. Good luck with finishing your degree.

Don't let them stop you, do what you want to do, and show them that you can do it.

I'm sure your parents are just concerned for your well-being!! I know it can be very discouraging and hard to hear their criticism though!! If this is something that you truly want maybe try renting a place with your boyfriend first. Maybe show your parents that you can do this!! Buying a house really is a huge commitment!! hang in there! and I agree that you really need to consider how much work and money is involved in a house and also the time to go back to school~but if you really want it to work, you will make it WORK!!!!! go for your dreams girlfriend!
