Odyssey?? lol Anyone have one? We are "this" close to purchasing one and I need to know that I will love it :p

We're looking at the EX-L which is a step down from the touring..the only diff is the dvd entertainment system (which we would have installed ourselves MUCH cheaper) and the GPS.

I just want room..right now i'm driving an '01 ford escape and with 2 carseats in the back it's just way too small even for an SUV.

I just get so nervous over big purchases like this. I need reassurance :)

I wanted one a couple years back but ended up with a Tahoe instead with a 3rd row..Sometimes I wish esp with gas mileage that we had gotten the van..I have 3 diff sets of friends that each have at least one Odyssey (1 has 2 lol) and they LOOVE them..we have ridden in them and they are roomy and comfy.

I think now..if we were to buy a van we would buy the Toyota Sienna..they are about 10k cheaper than Odysseys and just as roomy..You might have a higher resale on the Honda though

Well, we test drove the Sienna and a Chrysler Town and Country..but I just fell in love with the Honda...you know it was one of those "this is my car" moments lol :)

You.Will.LOVE.it.

Seriously, its the only minivan I'll drive. I love my odyssey and its and older one. I'm hoping to get a newer one this spring.

DON'T get the Chrystler. My MIL got one and its a POS. Big time. She's put so much money into that thing it isn't even funny.

Yes, got mine a little over a year ago and LOVE it!!! We got one step down from the nicest too. So we don't have the GPS and the rear door is not automatic, but we do have the entertainment system and there's a backup camera in the rearview mirror when you are in reverse. Anyway, I love the convenience of opening the doors with a button. It's perfect for Moms of little ones. You will LOVE it!

You will ABSOLUTELY love it! Trust me! :) I am one of those people who swore that I would never drive a minivan. Well, three kids age 3 and under forced us to get a different vehicle. We got the Touring model last year, and I can honestly say that I am in looooooooooooove!

OH I LOOOOOVED my odyssey!!!

i had a black/black touring model and was seriously sad when dh turned it in this summer to get me a Suburban!

i NEVER wanted a minivan... but once i had that baby, i fell in love! it drove just like a car.

That's what we have ... the black/black touring mode. I love it!

our neighbours have one and it looks soooooo nice!! I'm a tad jealous ;)

I bet you would LOOOVE it!

The only thing I don't like.. is how computerized it is! Something to do with the keys I'm not sure but our neighbours had to get theirs towed to the city a few weeks ago (1.5 hours away ack) because of something getting messed up with the computer, it wouldn't let them start it up.

I have one - red, sunroof, leather interior, heated seats. Step down from the touring model as well. I refused to have the DVD player in there all.the.time. as I know my children would whine for it even for a short trip to Target. I like to talk to them & ask them questions. :)

LOVE IT. We can cram 4 adults & 3 carseats in there. :) With room for a 5th adult.

Never had an issue with it. The seats fold down and up and can get in and out easily. LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

What I like best about my Odyssey is the fold down back seat. No removing it and all that nonsense. It just easily folds down for when I need more space in the back.

See?? I knew y'all would give me that last little push I needed :) :)

I really do want it. I just wish they'd give it to me or something lol!

My kids are ok with the "only on long trips" rule for the dvd player. Even if we ARE on a long trip, they know to not even ask until we're on the freeway. ;)

Well, we live in a rural area so every trip is pretty much a "long trip" lol

We visit my sister in Alabama a lot and any big shopping trip we have to drive at least an hour round trip...my other sister just moved to Destin so we're planning on visiting her I just want the DVD installed..we have a portable DVD player in my car right now and it's such a headache to me..I want something I can control from the front seat etc. and DS also is pretty good about knowing when we can and can't turn it on.

The 2010 EX-L also had the power rear hatch door which is something they've added this year. I really liked the camera in the rear view b/c I'm notorious for backing into things. I really like how it handled as well..I too never thought I'd drive a mini-van but with little ones I just really think it would be the best thing for us.

Love, love, love, love, love mine! We've had it about 18 months and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Mine's the dark burgundy color with tan leather interior and the specs sound just like what Kresta has. It rides beautifully, love the remote sliding doors and the heated leather seats rock my world! :) You definitely won't regret the purchase!

Oh, and I had a Dodge Grand Caravan before this and while I loved it at the time, the Honda is definitely my favorite now!

Nikki - you could get a one month membership to Consumer Reports.com and check out their extensive reviews. I think it is only $5 bucks for a month. Anyway, when we were buying our minivan, we researched both the Sienna and the Odyssey. They are ranked #1 and #2 respectively in Consumer Reports. We ended up with Sienna but my MIL has an Odyssey and she LOVES it. It is a top ranked car so I don't think you'd be going wrong.

Good luck with your purchase!
Susan

ETA - our Sienna has an automatic back hatch and a back up camera and I LOVE both of those features....definitely get them if they are optional. Also, the heated leather seats cannot be beat. We have wicked cold winters here and I LOVE having a warm ass while driving.

We have the Odyssey! The exact one you're describing...ours is two years old this summer.

WE LOVE IT. Actually, my hubby drives it all the time since he's the stay home parent. I drive it on the weekends every chance I get - it's like a luxury vehicle, LOL!

We use DH's iphone more than the GPS though - just so you know. The data on the google maps is more current and up to date than the data on the system GPS. But it still rocks!! (and it's possible that the GPS has been upgraded since we bought ours a few years ago!)

Kids love it. we love it. tons of cup holders, plenty of room for the whole family. DH does lots of woodwork/construction stuff and we fold the seats down a lot, too!

DO IT!! you won't regret it!

totally love mine too!! And ditto the ix-nay the Chrysler idea. It was so tempting b/c we could pick up a pre-owned so much cheaper, but there's a reason for that. Long story short - my BIL (who is a pre-owned sales manager at Dodge/Chrysler) sold us a preowned Odyssey!

We're a step down from Touring as well. Midnight Blue, leather, DVD, rear camera, GPS, dual power doors, and all that jazz. The only thing we don't have is rear power gate (or whatever you'd call it). Would've been nice, but not a huge deal.

We upgraded from my Hyundai Santa Fe (similar in size to what you're driving now). The increase in size wasn't difficult for me to adjust to with parking and whatnot, but the increase in cargo room and passenger room has been amazing. Grocery trips are a breeze, and it's been wonderful to be able to haul my 2 kiddos and have a friend come along. In fact, we went to the park today with a friend and her daughter and we all piled up in my much-loved Odyssey!

Go for it!! :D

LOL!!! I have to say, I've had two T&C. Mine were top of the line...fully loaded, and both were fabulous vehicles for the most part. We went with them because my boys were tall, and the Honda's and the Toyota's were both too small for my boys in the back. They make them much roomier now, but that didn't help me back then! I know what you're saying though Jenny! We went out shopping for vehicles for my dh a few months ago, and we wouldn't even LOOK at an American car!

After test driving them all, we went with the Kia Sedona. You just can't beat the price and the warranty.

I have to agree with you. Kia is making some fabulous vehicles. You won't have the resale value (not yet anyway) that you'll have with the Honda's, but you also won't pay as much and you'll have an amazing warranty!

I havent read the other responses but thought I'd give ya my input.

My sister had a Kia and hated the issues it gave her. It was always in the shop.

With us, we only buy Toyota or Honda...but again, personal preference.

I always said I'd never be a van mom. But now, I'm a mom with a van....the only cool one out that (again, personal preference)...the Odyssey.

WE LOVE OURS! Its great for traveling and we have the same one you are considering.

We got ours $1500 under invoice with $2000 in rebates. You can get a deal out there if you look. Normally we buy used but this was our first buy new car only b/c of the deal we got.

let me know if you have any questions..just PM me.

I have an Odyssey and I LLLLLOOOOVVVEEE IT!! I never thought I would like a minivan, but with three little ones, it is perfect! Plenty of space, comfortable...and I even like the way it looks! So much flexibility in it too...we can add a third seat in the middle row (we never use it though) and we can take the middle seats out and fold down the back row to use the back as a cargo area (we have done that before!)

Very nice! I love my van!!

I don't think you can go wrong with the Odyssey. We have the Sienna, but would have been just as happy with the Odyssey! We have several friends who swear by the Odyssey and wouldn't buy anything else. Have fun!

I am in the market for 1 as well. WE are actually going to get the odyssey. We test drove a bunch and I really feel the odyssey is the better vehicle. I own a Kia Sedona right now and yeah its a nice vehicle but I have had NOTHING but problems with mine. Problems they can never find after 6 years of repeated visits for the same problem into the dealer. :( As soon as the incentives are out for the 2010's we are getting one!
