i was torn. i didnt know whether to do it or not. the kids were all sick for about a day or 2 a couple weeks ago but it wasn't really bad. Chloe yesterday had a headache when she woke up and i had to go get her at lunch from school because she got sick in the lunchroom (how embarassing, poor kid) she had a fever of 101. the nurse said that she has not heard of anyone having a bad reaction to the shot. they are giving it out on Sunday at the IUK campus here. I'm going to take them. plus, they say that kids with asthsma problems can get it really bad, and Aidan sometimes develops this when he gets colds so i can't take any chances anymore. its free so i'm taking them. hopefully they won't get sick. better safe than sorry i guess.

I got my little ones the shot and you are right about kids with asthma...I know here at the hospital I work at kids with asthma, pregnant woman and any other high risk people are getting the shot priority...

well, since we've already all had it, my kids won't be getting it. Supposedly once you've had it, you're immune to it...not sure about that though. They're having a free clinic at Emma's school Monday night but um, they only have 60 shots. There are 40 kids in prek alone. I'm guessing they'll run out fast.

My kids got theirs last week. I was torn about it too but my younger two have respiratory issues. IE: when they get a cold it goes into their lungs and turns into a mess. :( I figured better safe than sorry. They both got the preservative-free vax and my oldest got the nasal spray since she doesn't have the respiratory issues the others have. I feel better about the decision now that it has been made and none of mine had any adverse reactions. :)

i was very surprised last year when i took Aidan in for a bad cold he had. the doctor prescribed us one of those breathing treatment machines for when he gets the bad colds. i didnt know asthsma was something you could just develop with a cold. so i think its in our best interest. i hope they dont' run out again. they had a clinic a few weeks ago that got cancelled.

My hubby and I both had the shot a few weeks ago and had no adverse reactions. My son had the nasal mist on Wednesday and has also had no reaction. We are all at high risk, so this was a no brainer for me.

I had to hold 5 of our pre-K students yesterday while they got their shots. Not fun. Our school ran out of the flu mist and 2 of them were scheduled to get the shot anyway, and the other 3 had to get it because there was no mist. I'm the pre-K teacher that said, "Hey, I'll run them down there," so I got drafted to hold/restrain them while they got the shot.

One of our girls had an immediate reaction. Lethargic, face turned red. She had perked back up by the time we dismissed (about 2 hours later).

I have no idea whether it was related to the immunizations, but those kids who had it yesterday were crazy today. One cried for 20 minutes, several had rough days when they normally don't. I found it odd that it was only those kids who got the immunization.

I chose not to get it for my own children. May regret it later.
