Where do you keep....

Brodo gettin her Swerb on
Your cookbooks? I got a bunch of cookbooks recently as presents, but I don't know where to put them. My built-in bookcase in the dining room is overflowing (and I just recently reorganized it - before I got the books), but I don't know if I should just leave them sitting on the counter in the kitchen somewhere.

Just curious :)

I kept my cookbooks in my pantry (walk-in). My mom keeps her in those cabinets above the microwave. I wouldn't keep them on the kitchen counter. They tend to get grimy and greasy from cooking. JMO

When we built our current house, I made sure I got kitchen cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling. So, I have plenty of room for lots of gadgets and gizmos! I didn't however get a walk in pantry! So, I designated one of the shelves in my kitchen cabinets the "cookbook" shelf. It is where I can see them and reach them and I put some of the other stuff up high that I don't use as often (like formal serving platters, etc.)

Depends... the ones that I don't uses often, I keep in a drawer in the built in desk that is in the kitchen... and those that I use all the time, are on the counter in corner away from where the stove is that could splatter them with grease, but within arms reach during food prep.

I have an antique glass-fronted bookcase that is in the hall next to the kitchen (it's very close) where I store all my cookbooks. I used to have them on a shelf in the pantry, but I found that I never went in there to get at them. Now that they're in the glass-fronted cabinet, they are in view...ready for inspiration.

Our cabinets are pretty crammed full of stuff....but maybe in the spice area. I just cleaned that out and it's pretty empty.

I don't know why, but I never really thought of putting them in a cabinet, LOL! :forehead slap:

Right now some of my favs are in a basket in the kitchen floor, others are boxed up because of the move. Just don't have the space for everything.

Cabinets won't work. :( The books are too tall for our stupidly short shelves.

I think I'll stick them in one of the corners. Maybe by the bread maker. Right now they are just sitting on the floor in the dining room and I def forget I have them.

You could lay them down...spines toward the front of the cabinet. That way, you can see what titles you have when you open the door.

Mine are on the countertop between my fridge and stove (maybe 3 feet of space). I like having them out where I can see them as it's a visual reminder to actually use them. :)

We have shelves on the end of our island. I have to lay the books on their sides because they are too tall for the shelves. I also have a bunch on the shelves of the baker's rack in the corner that holds the plates & the coffee machine & mugs

Thanks guys :) I deep-cleaned the kitchen this morning and I put the cookbooks in the corner behind my Keurig coffee maker. I didn't even have to rearrange anything, and now I will see them every morning when I get my coffee :)

I don't have them in my kitchen - I own simply too many cook books to store them in there. But we have a "libary" just across, so it is no big deal to go over there to get the book needed.
