I locked my stinkin' keys in my van with it running! I went to start it to warm it up and accidentally locked all the darn doors with the power locks! The thing is broken- I hit "unlock" and it locked them ALL! Now I can't get my son to preschool in time and I have to wait for his dad to come bail me out! lol! Thank God he has a spare key!!!

Well, I like to look on the bright side- at least I didn't lock the keys in with my kids in there, and at least I didn't lock myself out of my house where my kids were while I was starting the car! So I'm just sitting here with the kiddos waiting for their dad to come unlock my car for me. He has to take an early lunch. Early, I guess so! It's not even 8am!!!

I have such bad luck!!!!

Oh, I feel your pain. Since you're looking on the bright side -- at least you are not locked out during a blizzard. And the kids' dad is going to be Very Hungry tonight with an 8am lunch.

Ahhhh! Poor thing! Yes, you have to look on the bright side that no one was in the van. I actually locked DD #1 in the car by accident when she was only 2 months old. It was horrible. :(Luckily she was sleeping until the very end of the ordeal. The police came and got the door unlocked. We had no spare key!

OMGosh...I did that so often when my kids were little. I've been stuck in horrible situations too with all my little ones having to wait hours and hours outside for my dh. This was all before the days of cell phones too.

I am so thankfuly for keyless remotes now. Once I got my van that had that in it, I never locked them in it again, and now my new car has a smart key where I don't even have a key. I put my handbag (where the "key" was inside) into my trunk when I was loading groceries, closed the back, and it beeped and popped up again. Wouldn't even let me lock it in!! Yay!!

That's an awesome feature! Unfortunately I have a very old van that has like, no technological advances to it at all! lol!

I used to be really bad about locking my keys in my car...thankfully not with it running though.
A friend of mine did that once while we stopped at a gas station...however we were somewhere we werent supposed to be so we couldn't call anyone to bail us out. Thankfully someone was able to get into the car for us.

They give tickets in the area if police find a car warming up even in a driveway and without a person in it. They say it is cheaper to pay the ticket than to buy a new car...they are trying to get people to stop it...but there are a lot of car thefts because of it...so you're lucky someone didn't break in and drive off with it!

...sounds like you need to buy a spare key! ds locked his keys in his car a few months ago...and I had to drive all the way from home to his school...whereas dh was much much closer but didn't have a key... so I made ds go to the dealership and have another key made ($11 for each key) for each of us...now all 3 of us have all 3 car keys on our rings (plus I have an extra one of mine in my purse).

I hear ya! That's the kind I drove when my kids were small. I would set my keys on the floor mat, get the kids out of their car seats, and lock the doors! I locked the keys in the trunk of my brothers car when I borrowed his, and I obviously would've done it again in my new car had it not had that feature! LOL!

I've actually done that. one morning when my oldest was little i was dropping him at daycare. got out on my side, hit what I thought was unlock, went around to get him out and he was locked IN the car IN the drop off lane at the daycare with a whole line of tee'd off parents behind me. I had to call my dad cause he had spare keys thank GOD!!!

I am going to the hardware store to get a couple extra copies of my key in the morning, let's just say that! :p
I'm kinda just laughing about it now! Glad it's over but embarassed I did it!

I locked my 8 month old in, with it running, at preschool, in the pouring rain, and he screamed the entire time.
