CS3 trying to raster EPS file ***HELP***

I'm trying to open an EPS file in CS3...when I do...it tries to raster the file...how do I get around this? Do I have a setting set wrong?

Please help! I need to open this EPS file and resize to 12x18" ... and when it rasterizes it...it pixelates it! This is for robotics and I need this file printed out before Friday night!

I think you need to Place it (File>Place) into your canvas rather than just opening the document. That will place it as a Smart Object which should allow you to scale it as a vector image.

ok it wouldn't let me edit it...ds said something about it should have "paths" when it comes into CS3...he brought it into his Illustrator and it had paths and let him edit it...he thinks maybe I have a setting wrong in my CS3...but I have no idea what setting
