Facebook Changes

For those out there.. they unveiled new changes and now your base profile is basically viewable to everyone.. I haven't been able to find anywhere to turn it off.. Make sure you go in and update your privacy settings though because things that you had made private have probably gone public.. so basically anyone now can see all of your profile pictures large size etc..

I read this article which sounds like there isn't a way: http://m.cnn.com/cnn/ne/tech/detail/413036/full

ohh ok i found the profile picture setting - you have to go into your privacy and albums and there you will see "profile pictures" and you can set it to friends only..

This morning, the first time I posted to facebook, a popup came up to walk me through the privacy changes. So I guess, if you're not posting, it won't automatically remind you..so good catch!

If you go to setting - Privacy Settings - Profile Information - change setting .... from there you can define and change the setting as you like

I saw that too but in that list there was nothing about how your profile pictures are viewed etc.. tricky facebook people! grrrr! I have already been feeling very uneasy about using facebook so openly and this just makes it worse.

I already had all my photos set to friends only (after an unfortunate incident where my ex had photos of my daughter on his FB photos), and I already had a limited profile. So far, everything I had set is still as I had set it. I got the same pop-up Darcy mentioned, yesterday.

you are exactly right Kristin. I got the same pop up that Darcy talked about and edited my settings, but there wasn't anything about profile pictures. So I went to settings>privacy settings>profile info>photo albums. Thanks for letting us know!

yea just remember if you aren't wanting everyone to see your profile pictures to go in and change it.. i just tested yours jamie under darcy's facebook and i could go into your profile and see all your pictures you have through there..

maybe i'm just an overcautious nilly :P but yea LOL

And yes I know its weird for me to be overcautious considering i put layouts up on scrapbook sites for the world to see but I don't think many people come looking at scrapbook sites compared to facebook. haha :)

Yeah I just fixed them all. I don't care who sees my profile pic. LOL

I just checked mine. All my photos were still set to the settings I originally created for them. I wonder if they had a glitch of some sort when they put the settings into effect

I got the pop up and was allowed to keep my previous settings (which were all "friends only"). Pretty much nothing changed for me. I think it was more of a notification that you now have more power over the privacy settings, than them changing your settings for you.

I don't want anyone I am not already friends with to even know I am on FB. Thanks for the heads up, Kristin. I thought I was safe because it walked me through my setting, but apparently it didn't keep my profile hidden.

Thanks for the heads up! I had to make changes. I'm on FB so infrequently that it would have been weeks before I saw the popup. I probably wouldn't have thought of the profile pics without the reminder.
