ok so all of a sudden my "D" drive is missing on my laptop!!!! I can see the "C" drive, but no "D" drive...how can I find it????? it has ALOT of stuff on it and all of my latest digi pages:cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing:

have you tried restarting?

I once lost all my drives for like memory cards and when I shutdown then turned it back on they were all back

not external, INTERNAL! DH says I am SCREWED....it is 1 hard drive split into 2 partitions and 1 partition is completely missing!!!!:cursing:

Oh ok...m8ine is like that as well. Sounds like someone somehow changed the partition on the drive. I know you can do that but I do not know exactly how its done.

Don't freak, Angie - I'm talking to DH now...PC guru that he is :) We have our PC done the same way. Just a min.

He wanted to be sure you powered off for a full minute when you did..not just a soft reboot.
What operating system are you using.
And can you not see it under Start>MyComputer>

Next:
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management. See if the drive is still listed in the volume list top right or drive letter list lower right.

If it's listed, right click and see if there are options for scan disk. If not, then the partition is corrupted and will not be readable outside of a lab for a retreival company.

thanks Darcy....

Windows Vista
and it is not under disk management..

DH took the other hard drive "D: drive out of the computer and put it in the freezer {he's kind of a computer guru too, but wasn't very helpful last night!}...

so I guess I have 2 physical hard drives so he said it sounds crazy but putting it in the freezer might bring back the D drive long enough for me to get everything off of it and save it on my EHD...keep your fingers crossed!!!

Darcy, tell your DH thanks for the help!!!!

I have 2 actual drives...I thought it was 1 with a partitio9n but I found out this morning it is 2 physical drives...and the freezer thing didn't work:cursing:

Mine is two separate drives as well, all my scrap stuff is on my D drive, and something like this would make me dry-heave LOL.

I hope you can get the info off of it, perhaps take it to a computer place? My computer guy has gotten me out of a couple of serious jams!
