My 5 month old son tested positive for RSV yesterday. He has to do Albuterol breathing treatments using the nebulizer every 4 hours and a steriod treatment twice a day. He is also on an oral steroid. I feel like his breathing is getting a little better, but now he is super snotty. I am using a humidfier in his room, baby vicks, and a pillow under his mattress to help him sleep better. Is there anything else I can do to help him sleep better?

I hate that he is sick right before we leave for Christmas. His first Christmas and he stickin has RSV. We are leaving Friday so I am trying whatever I can to make him better before then.

Is there anything else I could be doing to help him? Thanks in advance :)

JJ had RSV when he was 21 days old and we were in the hospital for 4 days. I feel your pain.

Try running a hot steamy shower and taking him in the bathroom and letting him breathe the steam. Also, sleeping upright always helps.. I slept on the couch with J in his bouncy seat on the floor for a week after we got home from the hospital.

Hope he gets better fast!!!

I was going to suggest a stroller for sleep time. Put him in bed to get him to sleep, but put him in the stroller once he's asleep to prop him up and help him sleep better if you're comfortable with that.

oh we dealt with this a couple years ago and my little niece had it at less than two weeks old. :( IT was really scary!

I don't have any other advice but I am sending you tons of well wishes!

Ryleigh had it too and was in the hospital for a couple days..((((Hugs))))

I'd def find a way to let him sleep propped up a bit in either the swing or stroller. Get some rest while he does too so you are refreshed and not exhausted taking care of him. Hope he heals quickly

Sounds like you are doing all you can do. When my 2nd son was born he got RSV when he was about 2 weeks old and spent a good week in the hospital at Primary childrens in SLC. He was on tons of breathing treatments and equipment it was terrible! But keeping them sleeping upright as much as possible and doing the breathing treaments is about all you can do. As for your 5 month old getting better before you leave for Christmas...probably not going to happen, my little one was sick with it for an entire Month! But hopefully your son wont be as sick. Just know you really are doing all you can and just keep monitering his breathing and push fluids and really it just has to run its course. Hang in there!
