I cannot think of the lyrics but I think it was Garth Brooks. Or at least sounded like him. It was talking about how he once loved this girl but now she is gone and he loves the girl he is with now but he sometimes thinks of her. One of the lines was something like she is here now and she is real but you once were too.

So I know not much to go by LOL but I have never heard this song before. My husband and daughter love Garth Brooks and have never heard it either. Did a lyrics search but since I cannot remember a line exactly how it is worded it doesnt help much. Anyone have any ideas?

Is it Unanswered Prayers?

http://www.lyricsfreak.com/g/garth+brooks/unanswered+prayers_20058116.html

Just the other night at a hometown football game
My wife and I ran into my old high school flame
And as I introduced them the past came back to me
And I couldn't help but think of the way things used to be

She was the one that I'd wanted for all times
And each night I'd spend prayin' that God would make her mine
And if he'd only grant me this wish I wished back then
I'd never ask for anything again

Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he doesn't answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

She wasn't quite the angel that I remembered in my dreams
And I could tell that time had changed me
In her eyes too it seemed
We tried to talk about the old days
There wasn't much we could recall
I guess the Lord knows what he's doin' after all

And as she walked away and I looked at my wife
And then and there I thanked the good Lord
For the gifts in my life

Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he may not answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

Some of God's greatest gifts are all too often unanswered...
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

No I know that song. I do know he says something about the person he is with now being real or being there and the one he was with was once real too LOL

Yep that is it I actually called the radio station and asked them because it was bugging me LOL

The lyrics are:

I walked down to the park last night
Warm breeze stirring up a soft moonlight
And my mind started drifting to way back when
Yes I do think about you every now and then

The other day I saw a car like you used to drive
I got a funny feeling down deep inside
And for the briefest moment I felt a smile begin
Yes I do think about you every now and then

(chorus)
I love my life and I'd never trade
Between what you and me had and the life Ive made
Shes here and she's real, but you were too
And every once in awhile I think about you

I heard a song on the radio just yesterday
The same one you always asked me to play
And when the song was over
I wished theyd played it again
Yes I do think about you every now and then

(chours)
Ive been layin here all night listenin to the rain
Talkin to my heart tryin to explain
Why sometimes I catch myself
Wondering what might have been
Yes I do think about you every now and then

Every now and then
Every now and then

I love that song :)

You know what... you can google song lyrics. If you know the chorus or a few words just type it in google with the word "lyrics" and you can usually find it pretty easily. Of course choose words that are not as common so it narrows it down. If I hear a song I like and want to know who sings it that is what I do :)

my husband was thinking this was a new song. I had never heard it before but looking it up seems like it is an older song. The guy I talked to at the radio station also said he is not really that familiar with this song. Must not have gotten a whole lot of radio play

I *had* that cd. A girl I knew stole it. I bought it when it was released and she stole it like a week after I bought it. My husband and daughter are both huge fans of Garth Brooks. Me not so much. I mean he is ok. At that time I think I was more into Randy Travis and George Strait.

It's old!!! It's from his cd "The Chase" in 1992. I have the box set lol. I love Garth :)

It wasn't a single I don't think.

Carried Away by George Strait is one of my favorite songs ever!

I heard Garth Brooks is playing a set amount (don't know how many) of shows in Vegas this year...

I heard he was coming out of retirement. Isnt he going to playing just in Vegas?

He already played some in Vegas.

48 shows annually. Its like 4 shows a weekend, only certain weekends.

It's only him though, one man show. I love him and would give anything to see him in concert, but I'm not sure about the one man show thing.

He's doing it for 5 years apparently, unless it isn't working and they'll stop.

There is a video about it on his website.

LOL true...Im not worried about it though because he had no other girlfriends before me who he cared about and we have been married almost 19 years.

I love Garth, and I have the box set, can't believe I've never heard this song!

I'd love to see him in concert again too - but the high energy kind he used to do. He sold out 6 shows the last time he was here. He sold all the tickets for something crazy like $20. It couldn't have been too much, I was a young broke single mother and managed to go 3 times.

really? That is cheap...I know we had friends go see him but im not sure how much they paid. He had that free concert in New York's Central Park which was supposed to be one of the most attended concerts there ever. People came from all over the world to see him. I like some of his songs...I think my favorite is probably either Honky Tonk Bar Association or The Red Stroke. I think what had me so curious about this song is because I had never heard it and was thinking he was coming back and releasing a new album because the radio station played this song then like an hour later played another song by him.

I use to be a BIG Garth Brooks fan. I saw him in concert in Portland around 1997. He was AMAZING. Like jaw dropping awesome. Swinging down from some high wire thing. Fireworks and flames. Seriously I was nearly in tears when it was over. I didn't want it to end.

Nowadays I don't even listen to country, but I'd see him in concert anytime. :)

He says he probably won't release another album until his youngest daughter graduates High School. She's 13. Same for touring.

I wanted to see him so bad the last time he toured, but the closest he got to us was Jacksonville, and my mom wouldn't let me drive that far by myself.

Jacksonville Florida? Where did you live? We have that problem with alot of musicians. They tend to skip over Orlando for Tampa which is really irritating. My husband will not drive that far for a concert and the only way to get there from where we live is I-4 and I will never drive on I-4 alone. Way to aggressive driving for me LOL Supposed to have a new arena here in Orlando but it still is not done. I know I saw plenty of concerts in the Orlando Arena when I was a teenager so I do not see why they cannot still play there but they dont

I did live in Horseshoe Beach, Fl.

Its on the gulf coast, about 80 miles from Gainesville.

I lived there until I joined the Air Force.

Now we're in Michigan. DH's family is here.

Yeah, 3 hours to Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, far. LOL!

No, Michigan isn't that different. I've been all over by now too. TX, AZ, Japan (tons of Snow), CA, and then I spent the last 3 winters in Alaska. Its almost like I never lived in Florida. LOL!

Oh ok...that is a pretty good drive to Jacksonville then huh? Big change from Florida moving to Michigan I guess.

I lived in New Mexico before moving to Florida but I dont really remember it much because I was like 3 when my family moved here to Orlando. Been here ever since
