ETA: Found the answer, it wasn't the layer styles

ALL OF Them - paging Amanda, Elements goddess - or any of y'all PSE geniuses, pretty pretty please for the sake of what few brain cells I have remaining and before I drop kick this PC into 2011 ...
None of my layer styles are working properly, and I've rebuilt PSE by removing both ThumbDatabase.db3 and MediaDatabase.db3 and allowing it to chugg itself new ones; I've run my registry cleaner, cleaned everything I can think off of the drives, etc.
Help, please help. I'm so phenomenally lazy it'll take me 4 tutorials to figure out how to scrap without a layer style. :glare: Off to see where i've buried my Elements Village password stuff to fall on them for mercy next . . .
