Ok. So I have 3 holes in my ears. I have 2 pairs of earrings that Jordan gave me that I wear every single day. So the top 2 holes are good. But I don't have a pair of earrings in the bottom hole, so then it practically closes up, until I shove an earring through it, and then it's angry for a while, until I take it out and restart the cycle in 2 or 3 months.
I took the earring out of the middle hole and put it in the bottom one for a few days, and then I changed it to wear pretty dangles for New Years. But they were still angry and red, so I took them out. Now they are a little crusty, and still pretty angry. I have tried cleaning them hydrogen peroxide every few days to try and make them less angry, but it doesn't work and I end up giving up.
I would really like to wear earrings in all 3 holes, but I need help getting the bottom holes healthy again so this cycle doesn't keep going.
Any ideas?

I often have this problem too Col and I find that I have to swear really good earrings for the lowest holes not to hurt and go crazy.
What kind of earrings are you trying to wear? Maybe try something hypoallergentic for sensitive ears... it's possible that those holes are just more sensitive than the others.

The ones I wear everyday are white gold, and they're the only things that don't make my ears get all gross and gunky. But, I wore random stuff all the time when I was younger and I had no issues with my lowest hole. That's why it's so confusing to me.
The hypoallergenic tip is good though, I'll have to look into that. I might just put the middle holes earrings into the lower ones, and keep trying. I have some small sterling silver hoops I just bought that I can wear in those.

Your ears are acting just like they would if you had them just pierced so what you need to do is pick a pair of comfortable earrings and leave them in 24/7 for at least 4-6 weeks. Clean them with the peroxide twice a day and try putting some neosporin or other antibiotic cream on them at night at see if that helps. So long as you keep taking the earrings out while your ears are still trying to heal then you will go through that every single time.

You would think that as a reasonably intelligent person, I would have come to that conclusion Wolf, lol. Thank you though, I didn't really think it of that way.
I'm going to put the white gold posts I have in the bottom hole tonight after a good peroxide rub down, and then stick with the twice a day routine for a few weeks.

I was gonna suggest the neosporin too....that's what we use around our house when ears get ouchy!!!!

I have a slight allergy to nickel and can't wear silver or white gold earrings because of it. What you are describing has happened to me. What throws me off is that your other holes are fine with silver or white gold, but perhaps the lower holes will be fine with that once they are completely opened and stable. For the next month or so I'd recommend wearing 14K yellow gold earrings. If you want to ensure they heal up the fastest I'd say to sterilize the earrings with the peroxide, wipe your lobes down with peroxide, put a pair of yellow gold post earrings in, and leave them there for a few weeks. Just wipe around around the earring and lobe with peroxide once a day. After a few weeks I would think you could wear your standard white gold earrings but maybe those holes will be more sensitive forever.

Interesting, thanks for mentioning that Julie. I don't think I actually own yellow gold earrings, but I'll look tonight, lol!

I have the same problems with my ears. Had my ears pierced three times and it kept getting red and sore no matter what kind of earrings I wore. I had the same issues with my tongue piercing as well and had to eventually take it out.

another option to try is surgical steel, like they use in facial piercings. I know, sounds weird, but I have the same issue with my bottom holes (top two/three don't bother me, but the bottom does). I never wear earrings, other than for special occasions, but if I know in advance, I throw in a pair of my surgical steel hoops for a few days/weeks and it doesn't bother me at all when I switch. Now if only I was smart enough to leave them in all the time I wouldn't have this issue. lol
When it comes to my tongue piercing, I tend to go with Titanium. I just like the look and it doesn't feel heavy. I know, you didn't ask for that info. lmao

I think you can develop allergies later. I wore whatever junk I wanted as a kid, now when I wear fake gold, I break out right away and was even told by my dentist that I have a metal allergy. It does sound like the new hole issue though.
