What printer do you use?

I print my hybrid stuff at home, if I printed all the LOs I made, I would go broke on ink. ;) I use HP PhotoSmart C5550 All in One.

I think so. Scrapbook Pictures is cheaper now. Only 79 cents for a 6x6! Better quality print than I'd get at home that's for sure.

I use an Epson R340, and I love it. I prefer printing at home right after I finish a LO to waiting months and then ordering a bunch of them. Years ago (4 years, IIRC) I figured out that my 8.5x11 pages cost $1.25 to print at home. I don't know how that amount has changed since, but it would be $1.99 for me to print each page at Scrapbook Pictures.

I have a Canon IP5200 - this model is not available anymore but I am sure you get a similar one.

Now lets say, the printer costs $150, one cartridge set for mine are $90 (individual cartridges). They say one cartridge will print around 400-500 A4 pages, now I take the lowest amount. So, I need around 4 photo paper pks of around $20 each. That will make 400 8x8 pages for $0.80cents each. OK now, I have not included the power, but if you order your prints online you would also have to add shipping costs or if you do it in a RS, you probably drive there to pick them up, so you would add fuel costs, time, etc.

What I am saying is... it is not that expensive printing at home ;)

think it depends on how much you print? luv my Canon MP980
though DH did the math (he is that way) and informed me that printer ink now costs more per ounce that human blood. !?! maybe that was just HP?

anything of any volume I take to an office supply for quick turnaround, Scrapbook Pictures for single pages, etc. -- just get printed professionally rather than use my canon, tho. My rough calc showed the cost benefit just worked better that way.

What printer is it that does the 12x12 layouts?? Does anyone have it? I have a Samsung Color Expression Laser - I love it

I print 12x12 at home, when I first bought my Epson R1800 (3 years ago?), I could not find a reliable inexpensive place to print 12 x 12 in Canada so I started printing at home. It's great, I can print up to 13", so enlarging hybrid templates to make larger size boxes and bags is really easy. It probably would be cheaper to outsource my layouts, but I don't have the patience to wait for them.

But with shelling out initial $500 bucks for a decent printer and paper the cost of your prints have to be way more right?

I also have the Epson R1800 and I really like it. I just printed out Zoe's 2010 Calendars for my family as Christmas gifts and they printed SOOOOO nicely. I did them at the last minute and did the binding at home with a Bind it All. (I posted pics in the Hybrid gallery). I like the convenience of printing on demand, so it is worth it to me. Also, I like to make odd shaped hybrid items, so I like being able to print at home instead of waiting for a print to come back from the printers. I am sure it is marginally more expensive (printing at home) but I really thrive on the convenience.

I just got an Epson Stylus R1400

It's a wide-format printer, capable of 12x12. I love it so far, especially the richness of the colors. Epson's inks usually get high marks for their archival quality and ability to last for years.

Epson advertises the R1400 for $299 but I got it through Amazon.com for $189 and free standard shipping in the US. It's also on sale at Staples, a local office supply place, although you would have to pay sales tax if you bought it in the store.

I used my old printer for calendars and layouts at 8.5x11 and smaller. Now I can do the full size LOs for albums.

I have an Epson 1400 and I have printed 12x12 both at home and had them printed professionally for $2-$3. All I know is that whatever way I print, it's WAAAAY cheaper than what it used to cost me to make a paper layout. :)

I have only printed a few things at home and I they have turned out fabulous on my Epson NX515. It scans really really awesome too which is nice when you have old pics! :)

Ugh, you ladies telling me that the wide format Epson R1400 is that cheap are NOT helping me out! My printer is in no way shape or form in need of being replaced. I just WANT that Epson! LOL!

Are you happy with your MP980? I've bought a Canon MP990 today, so I'm curious.
