anyone watching the BCS game? Texas vs Alabama

The Ghost of Awesome Past
So the refs have been horrible to Texas  and the QB ends up hurt. We thought it was over. And their freshman backup QB is doing a FABULOUS job! Only 3 minutes left. Come on Texas!!!

I'm watching! but we're watching off the DVR, so we're a bit behind (we start late to we can skip commercials, LOL!)

I'm pulling for 'bama in this one...gotta stay loyal to the SEC. I'm disappointed that McCoy is out because I really wanted to see a clash of two good teams. Now if Alabama wins there will always be "we only lost because Colt was hurt" talk.

we'll see!

We're watching here but I wouldn't say the freshman backup has done a fabulous job. He was quite crap for the 1st three quarters of the game. You know it's bad when the coach says his goal for the second half is just to "find something the QB is capable of doing." He had some promising moments in the 4th quarter but he still has a long way to go before he's ready to be the starting QB.

I just feel SO bad for Colt McCoy. I can't imagine working that hard and getting your team to the national championship and then not getting to play. NFL dreams or not that's got to be pretty heartbreaking.

LOL... well, I think fabulous for a freshman. But that is probably just me having seen a million high school games. :D

Sure hope McCoy will be okay. His interview didn't sound great for his shoulder.

haha, yeah, I imagine it wasn't easy for him to be thrust into a game of this caliber either. His nerves were clearly getting the best of him for most of the game. But then I'm sure no one ever expected he'd actually have to play, including him. :D

omg I was so pissed...those 2 pass interference that one player got away with..ugh irked me lol

oh well I was kinda impartial to who won..I'm a Tx grad but an SEC girl haha..soooooo I was rooting for Tx for Colt..wanted him to have the game of his life like Tebow had earlier this week. Feel so bad he was hurt so early in the game.

um, one REALLY TRYING not to be bitter and a ref-hater* Texas-ex here.

Yi, only 5 plays with Colt "Gee Whiz" McCoy. Coulda Woulda been a different game.

Congrats, 'bama gals.

*already sore spot: see Seahawks vs. Steelers Superbowl, most any Pac-10 officiated collegiate football game, etc.

I watched the game last night. The second I saw Colt McCoy go out of the game I knew it was pretty much over for Texas. But I was surprised the freshman QB did that good. It's a shame that Colt had to go out like that on the biggest game.

It was sad he got hurt. But I loved his comments at the end... seriously, very Texas to me.

But really, did they have to go for that last touch-down? totally rubbing it in. That made me mad. Fortunately, I don't really get into sports, but I am a Texan and hubby was watching it... and my mom met a ton of the guys before she flew back from Cali last night, so that was cool.

I'm a Kansas State fan, so I was really hoping the Big 12 would pull out a win with this game. :( It was crappy that Texas lost McCoy so early but kudos to him for handling it like a man and congratulating Alabama when it was all said and done. Very classy interview. Here's hoping his injury isn't permanent and we get to see more of him in the NFL. :)

I was rooting for Texas. I felt bad for that poor freshman getting thrown into such an insanely huge game like that.

I felt so bad for Colt! His heart must have been broken, not to mention how scary it would be to loose feeling in your throwing arm!

Boo Hoo that was such a disappointing way to go out. I'm proud of our guys for staying in the game and putting so much heart into it. Those refs were weenies! I wasn't exactly happy with some of our play calls either. Alabama caught some breaks last night and still didn't exactly get a trouncing in so I'm going to live. ;) On the bright side, our new quarterback got some valuable experience last night; you can't get into a much more more high pressure situation than that.

Another (bummed) Texas-Ex here. I stopped watching with 2 minutes left after that turnover (ugh). I felt bad for Gilbert - he had some mighty big shoes to fill and he couldn't get the rhythm there for a long time - thankfully Shipley is so good that they finally got their rhythm together so it wasn't a complete killing, as it seemed to be at the half-time mark. I think Gilbert only expected to play late in the game if Texas was stomping Alabama butt, but well, that didn't happen. He really did get some valuable experience and I think if he can work on his rhythm with the other teammates and his accuracy, he'll be an asset for the team in the next couple of years. Unfortunately, I think Shipley's graduating too, but maybe Goodwin can take the charge on that front.
Hopefully McCoy's chances of going pro aren't hurt. I already felt bad that he didn't get the Heisman (although he at least lost it to a great player). But he did get voted player of the year by fans, so he has something to hang his hat on...

Ditto! I didn't care who won as long as it was not Texas.
hahaha! I definitely cared! Bama is DH's alma mater! I'm so proud of our boys!
I do have to say though, I do like McCoy & hate that he got hurt! Would've loved to see our team beat them w/him playing at fullest strength! I believe we still could've beat them though!
And, my aunt was shown several times (the blonde, sitting right behind McCoy's parents) so I thought that was cool! She's Chris Hall's (#71) step-mom. I'm wondering though, if she's also related to Shipley b/c that's her maiden name. Anyway. Neat to have those small connections. :)
