Speaking of house decor..

What is your style when it comes to your own home? Are you modern, country, shabby??

I really have no idea if i have a set "style" Our house is a work in progress and there is always something I'm wanting to do or fix up since it is older. I am not modern but I'm not country either.. I just want my house to feel warm/lived in and sorta crafty? I like the beach chic look too..

I would say..traditional/contemporary lol..if there is such a thing...let's just say I'd furnish my entire house from pottery barn if I could lol

I'm a big mix of everything, lol. I love clean modern lines, but I love the stability and presence of more traditional pieces. I LOVE crown moulding and chair rails, and decorative moulding under chair rails. I want to put white beadboard EVERYWHERE.

I def love PB style too. And there are times I wish my entire house had a beachy relaxed vibe (but I know Jordan won't go for it, so I settle for a room and a bathroom if I can :p).

Hand me down. :)

Seriously. I am 42 and have never purchased a sofa because I keep being offered the used sofa's of family members. when we need one, which is nice, saves us a bunch of money....but I have yet to own a sofa I really like. Our current sofas were in my parent's house from 1992-2006 but because my folks take super good care of things are in excellent condition & we had no good reason to turn them down other than disliking the color. My kitchen table is the one that was in DH's family kitchen from 1973 until 2001 when we were given it. Our bed frame was in my grandparents house. My desk was in my parents house from 2000-2007. I've got quilts from grandmothers, MIL, aunts & my own.

Perhaps 'well worn & loved' is a better way of putting it.

The rest of it is sort of minimalist upscale country.

My house has no style. It just has whatever crap we could get our hands on. It's sad really. Nothing matches and everything is just a little bit wornout.

I want an overhaul!!

Western Shabby Chic - Leather ~ we have a saddle that I use as a quilt rack - Iron and wood southwest elements thrown in - floral prints -

Im also a Ikea girl with European style. Lots of browns, tans and rustic. My decor in my house includes a huge picture of paris and the eiffel tower, a beautiful tapestry from Venice. Lots of world travel stuff from our travels.

I am shabby chic-ish. That's what my whole house would be if I could! At the moment it's a lot of hand me downs..lol the couch and stuff was my parents....but if I could it would all be soft colors and floral's with touches of colored glass...etc. :)

I'm a no-frills kinda girl, so a lot of my house is Shaker style or primative. If I had more money, this place would be decorated to the hilt! Right now we have a lot of space for art/pictures and decorative things for shelves.

I have almost all hand-me-downs. If I could though I would do a shabby sorta country feel. I love how some people can take vintagey kinda stuff that sorta shabby and make it look so awesome though

someone posted like two years ago this couch they had on their front porch that they reupholstered in red/white with cherry print and gingham and it just was so happy/cheerful looking. I loved it. I cannot remember which site it was posted on though :(

Comfy casual beachy is my style. Lots of tans and blues, white furniture with some black accents here and there. Slipcovered couches, huge buffalo checked curtains, sea shells everywhere. Everything is washable. LOL!

I'm pretty hardcore Traditional. Tans/Reds/Browns/Greens

Plush furniture and Tall beds. Huge paintings.

BUT not super/matchy-matchy...definitly not modern.

The closest thing to a "modern" piece I have is a sectional in the formal living room with straight lines and it's not super plushy....but colors are jewel toned and very elegant.

I don't know if there is a name for what we have going on here... Our house is filled with black and metal trimmed furniture... There's also a lot of dark wood storage in here... But, it is also really comfortable. I find it the biggest compliment when people fall asleep on my couch, which happens a lot, lol...

We used to have a ton of movie posters up (I kicked out like half of my husband's posters when we got married, but we still had like 10 hanging in frames.) But, this house, he hasn't asked for any so I haven't hung any. We are huge movie buffs though, so there are a lot of cabinets filled with movies to watch... There are also tons of bookshelves in here...

Course these days, there are a lot of layouts in frames popping up on the walls too!

Huggles!!

i like a mixture. i don't really have a style right now as i don't have much furniture. i love IKEA but don't own anything remotely modern, lol. i admire that style from afar. i guess i'm faily traditional? i don't really know. i love the shabby chic look, but white and my kids don't go together well, lol.

This! Everything in my house is sleek with clean lines and no clutter, but still warm and homey. I just recently moved and was able to get a lot of new things, so I got rid of some of the more traditional pieces I'd had for 10 or more years and replaced them with sleek, contemporary, more sophisticated pieces. I'm almost happy with everything now.

Mixed...lol, if I like it I buy it, regardless of style... lol.

About the only style I won't buy is modern... it's just not me.

What a great question! We just had to redo almost all of our house due to some massive water damage, and it's been really interesting figuring out my/our style. It is definitely eclectic (almost too much so), almost no matchy, matchy stuff. My living room is sort of a take on Tuscan with warm colors (yellows, rusts, robin's egg blue, and soft green), but it has a huge reproduction of an Impressionist print of Paris. Our front room is definitely, sort of Pottery Barn, in blacks and greens. I have a couple of very modern type rooms (my son's and our office with Van Gogh oil reproductions everywhere), and my reading room is done like an old English manor. Our bedroom is going to be sort of colonial African. I like color, sculpture/statutes, and really cool wood pieces, so I decorate around that. Plus tons and tons of bookshelves.

Traditional clutter...sigh. Lots of warm woods, comfy solid colored couches, neutral colors, and some darker colors (dark red, navy, hunter green) on the walls or in the accents. But any style I would have is lost under all the kid clutter and toys. One of these days I'll have everything the way I like it.
