So I need help for my almost 12 year old DD. I was some how blessed with really good skin and can probably count on one hand the number of zits I've had in my life and I've never had a black head, but my poor sweet DD gets horrible horrible blackheads on her nose!!! :crying: So since I have never had to deal with this I don't know what to do for her!!!

She uses Clean and Clear sensitive skin foaming facial cleaner morning and night.

I picked her up their Blackhead scrub a few weeks ago and she uses that only in the morning (I used it to test it out and it kind of burned me and seemed a little harsh so I don't want her using that more then once a day)

Then this past weekend we picked her up some of those Biore Nose Strips, but they did get out the few really deep ones she had.

She want I am think she really needs is "something" to shrink her pores because we cleaned her nose really good last night before bed and she woke up this morning and had like 5 blackheads :( But I have no idea what to get, what is good and what works!!! Does anyone here have any experiences with this and any suggestions???

Help this frustrated momma out!!! PLEASE!!!

i have horrible, horrible skin. you would think that by the age of 30 - i would not break out like a flipping teen, but noooooooooo. (ugh!)

it's frustrating. please let her know that a lot of this has to do with hormones. her body is changing, blah, blah, blah. i know - tough to hear and not what she wants and it sucks.

i have used mary kay (3 step program for oily skin) and that worked as a teen. i've used proactive & it worked for a while, but now...not so good. i am now using dermalogica and it is taking a while, but it is a lot better texture wise and on a surface basis than it was with proactive. it's hard to describe, but proactive only woked on the surface.

Demalogica has a teen (ya) product line called clean start - http://cleanstart.dermalogica.com/us/index.html#/home.

You can find the items at Ulta.com. They are pricey, but I have found through trial and error that the OTC items sometimes just don't work for really problem skin. Good luck.

You could try cetaphil! Its REALLY gentle and its been the biggest improvement i've had ever and I've tried SO many things (proactive, clinique.. etc lots) I use cetaphil wash and it really works! And its cheap! :)

I never had issues as a kid/teenager but now as an adult I get these pimples and I cant stop myself from picking at them. I know thats soooo bad. Anyhow I dont have any answers but just wanted to tell you I can sympathise. I get them on my chin though for some reason. Its so frustrating. And I have super sensitive skin so I cant use alot of different products

I just saw a commercial for neutrogena's product line called skin Id, sounds interesting since they ask 20 questions about your skin/lifestyle.

I have also struggled all my life. Dermatologist stuff is the best I have ever gotten. Retin A and the such.

The biggest thing that has helped me with blemish prone skin was to ditch all the products for blemish prone skin and work towards normal. I think a derm told me this in high school - that teens shouldn't be using more that one medicated product, bc more is just irritating. For as along as I can remember I've alternated between a basic glycerine soap and a creamier wash like Cetaphil. In the winter I use the cetaphil more to balance my combo skin. Before I was diagnosed with rosacea, I also used Dickinson's witch hazel astringent.

When I do get blemishes, I focus on spot treatment rather than all over. I like Nelson's acne gel, any kind of zinc based gel or even a benzoyl peroxide cream in small doses. As soon as I stopped stripping my skin so much, it cleaned up.

Unfortunately, one thing that has never changed for me though is a nose full of not-tiny pores and blackheads. I can use a Biore pore strip to pull many out, but they're back in the morning. I think its just my skin chemistry. They rarely get inflamed like a real pimple, so I just try not to look too close.

If you have an Amway IBO near you... (I can hook you up if not, hubby has an account)... they have a very good skin system for acne... it's called Clear Now. It's really gentle on the skin...
