i stink at this.. lol..

lauren grier

you're like stars
i have been trying.. uhm.. today.. to scrap like.. "stuff" rather than just my emo i love you connor layouts-- you know. and they are just ergh and weird ^_^ .. I don't know what to write on them. Like I usually just babble on end in my journaling, but it's SO awkward writing about.. building a lego tie fighter.. and stuff like that. I do not know how all of you scrap events, and important stuff all the time hahaha... i am in awe of you all :p

well...with the LO's I have seen from you today, they are pretty much AWESOMENESS< so you can just stop now:p

and I was just thinking how jealous I am that you are gifted with awesome journaling skills... I usually stop at just a title, lol.

lmao.. did you see the one i just uploaded.. I said..and i quote " if you had no other toys in the world, you’d be perfectly content. your star wars dudes are definitely
the stars of the toy box.... "

..... and then i stared at it.. What more DO you say?? hahahahah...

If there's not more to say than that, then just say that, La. I have the same trouble when I'm describing the boy stuff that Tyler does. Boy stuff is not my thing, and so I just don't have it in me to wax poetic abt it.

It counts that you made the page in the first place, y'know?

It's all good, Name Stealer.

Just do pictures and the pretty stuff, a title and stick the date on somewhere if you feel you have to.

There you go, words of wisdom from a cardmaker and a 'sometimes, only very occasionally, only if I really have to and someone will pay me to do it' scrapbooker':p:p

When I paper scrapped all my layouts were 'stuff' layouts and I was crap at journalling so ... just... kind of didn't do it

perhaps that is why I make cards ... happy birthday, merry christmas, thank you, for you ... not many words see :)

I liked it. Nothing wrong with saying it in a couple of sentences!

If you're stuck and want more, try listening to him play and then writing down some of the things he says, or ask him to tell you about the toys or event or whatever. My favorite LOs to read the journaling on later are the ones where I quoted my kids or recorded entire conversations. And if ce is anything like my 6-yr old, he'll be able to wax poetic about the toys well enough for both of you.

Put it in big print like we did in school. LOL.

Seriously, that page is awesome. It's great just the way it is. I do like the idea of letting CE wax poetic about his Star Wars toys -- although I say make it a second page.

This is why I stick with cards...

Happy Birthday, Just Because - anything more that two words togther and I start to hyperventilate.

When I'm journaling, I try to think about what my family would want to know in 20 years (or 10, or 50, or whatever) when they see those pics. I look at pics of me when I'm young and I sometimes have questions, so I want to try and avoid that with my boys.

I.E. while I love the journaling you did for the Star Wars page, you could always expand on it by asking him why he likes those toys, write where he got them, what kind of things he likes to play with them (battles? games? relationships?), where he plays with them (in his room? kitchen? family room?), etc.

I don't do this for every layout, but I do try to get those things down that will be a good memory for them later in life. :)

Good luck!
