My first LO!

Happy Sunday, SSD!

As I promised myself, I woke up this morning and tackled my first LO using The Shabby Princess's tutorial and free Vintage Florals kit. (Thank you, SP!)

I purchased PSE8 on Wednesday so I'm brand spankin' new to this...pardon any "ill effects". :p I sure did have fun!

Here's what I came up with (my sleeping beauty at 7 months old):

I know it's really simple and my arrangement may not be the most creative (or organized) but I'm pretty proud of it anyway. :thumbup: I attempted to add text but grew a bit frustrated so I'll master that on LO#2.

Just wanted to share! Now I'm allowing myself a few purchases from SSD so that I can really branch out and explore.

Thank you to everyone who encouraged me in my Intro post -- this is the beginning for me and I'm already eager to learn more and move forward.

Aww, thank you! I had a blast -- and I'm proud to admit that this time, I didn't let anything intimidate me.

Usually, I find things I want to try (like sewing and learning to applique) and after lots of research and gathering my supplies to pull it off, I never actually start. This is something I've really embraced and I'm looking forward to turning it into a hobby.

I tried a different approach this time -- I didn't allow myself WEEKS of research. I allowed myself a few days to poke around, read some things, download some free kits...and then I went out, treated myself to PSE8 and dove right in. No dilly dallying for me anymore. :D
 
You did a fabulous job! Don't let journaling be a roadblock for ya.
The more you dive in and do the more at ease you will be when creating your LO's.
 
aww... that's adorable! The best way to learn is to dive right in... I used to be the same way... do tons of research buy lots of stuff and... let's just say my sewing machine is still packed, lol.
 
You did a great job! I can remember doing my first LO. It took me forever but it really started an addiction for digi for me! Can't wait to see more LO's from you.
 
Yay! So glad that you took the plunge! Your first LO is a great one and one you'll treasure forever I'm sure. Now there is no stopping how you will grow as a scrapper!
 
Awesome job!! lol, I'm so excited for you! Also, not sure if you've seen threads for this, but this week kicks off click-a-sig... a great way to get some awesome free stuff!!!
 
That's a great first layout! And you even have shadows - I'm impressed! I didn't figure those out for quite awhile when I started. Keep going!
 
Great job on your first!!!! Such a sweet page. You are really jumping in! YEAH!!!! You will love this. I promise you won't ever want to turn away from digi! :) Also, this community is a great place to come with any questions. Most people are familiar with PSE 8 so they should be able to lead you in the right direction. I am using the same program! So, please feel free to PM me if needed!

Thank you to EVERYONE! I had a blast getting my toes wet and I can't wait to spend more time on scrapping. I just finished another layout to end the day on a good note. :)

On my next day off (Wednesday), I will play around with the program some more and see what else I can get myself into. I know I have leaps and miles of learning ahead but I think this is a pretty good start. This is so fun!

The spacing is off a bit (this will take some practice, haha!) but here is my second try:

Thank you again for all of your love and support -- I'm thrilled to have found such a friendly, supportive group to join.
 
Great job! You're already showing growth!! The great thing about scrapbooking is we all have evolved but we know the important part is getting the memories down, whether it be favorite pictures, family stories or deep thoughts.

You're absolutely right -- it's the memories that we are accentuating. I just winged both layouts by finding the photo I wanted to scrap, matching it up with a LO that inspired me and went for it.

I can't wait to learn how to do those amazing clusters I see everyone creating. All in time, all in time. :)

Congrats - you did a great job with your first page, I'm impressed that you even have shadows (I didn't learn to add shadows for months when I started!!). So glad you had a great time with it, can't wait to see more from you.
 
Cograts on a great first page! And I'm with Rochelle I'm amazed you have shadows! lol Its been my experience people starting out leave them off.

Is it a sign that the addiction has started when:

A) One spends an entire night of sleep dreaming they are clicking around in the Shoppe?

and/or

B) One vows they will put the computer away for the day...but sneaks back on not long after making said vow?

The world of digital scrapbooking has scooped me up and sucked me in. :wub:
 
Wow! Two pages already?? LOL! See, you are already addicted ;) They are awesome first pages (I wish mine looked that good :huh: - LOL)
