My BlackBerry died unexpectedly while I was traveling over the weekend. I am not eligible to get an iPhone until mid-June, but can get a replacement BlackBerry now. I am so torn.

Right now, I'm wielding a mega-hot $30 Nokia craphone. What do I do?

is there anybody else on your plan eligible to upgrade? (assuming u have AT&T) if so you can upgrade them with the iphone then have them switch it to your phone number :) I've done that twice now lol (once for dh then for me using his work phone and our dd's phone)

if not..I'd wait..b/c I LOOOVE my iPhone..NI what I did before it lol

No, we are a family of prompt-upgraders. The kids have their texting phones and DH just got a BB himself.

You could go the route I did. My phone died and rather than waiting the time out, we added a line. As soon as the upgrade time is up for the dead phone--we'll drop that line. Totally on the up and up, even AT&T suggested it to me. You would have to get a new phone number though, that's been the only drawback for me.

Get a droid instead. :p

J/K ;) That's what I have so I had to suggest it. lol I'd go ahead and go for the BB but I loved my BB and don't have the option of an iphone. :p

I say get the $30 phone until June. I cannot WAIT to get an iPhone. But our contract with Verizon isn't up for another year or so.

I put up with a crappy dying phone for like a year even though I could upgrade because I didn't want to sign another contract with Verizon until I'd decided about switching to AT&T. I'm so glad I did because I love love love my iPhone.

Love my crackberry. So I'd probably get it. I prefer my storm over the Iphone or droid. I've looked long and hard. I think its a personal thing. Do you really want the Iphone that bad.

I just got my BB, I'm in love! DH got an iPhone and he is in love with his! I am torn for you! Personally, I didn't really want the iPhone and was very happy to upgrade just to the BB. It is a good choice regardless, just depends on how well you can deal with delayed gratification!

i say wait for the iphone - only because i looooooooove mine so much! i actually had to go 3 weeks with a $20 go-phone b/c my daughter broke my old iphone 3 weeks before i could upgrade - it was HARD ...but worth it :) and after a couple of weeks you get used to not having internet access LOL! you feel very old-school :)

I used to work for AT&T.. If you are that close to the upgrade, just go into the store, and tell them you want to upgrade and when they tell you, you have to wait, just make a big fuss, say you're going to drop the service and go to verizon, etc.
They will (should) let you upgrade, we upgraded people early alllllllll the time :)

Oh gosh, I never thought of that. I 'm not willing to switch numbers though.

They said I could upgrade early to ANYTHING but an iPhone.

I don't know that I want an iPhone that bad. I've really enjoyed my BB except for Twitter.. but BB is coming out with its own Twitter app soon.

that happened to me too - i tried EVERYTHING both at the apple store, at an ATT store, on the phone w/ AT&T, talking to supervisors at AT&T ... etc ... and i only had 3 weeks that i needed 'waived' and everyone said it was impossible w/ the iphone. i DID get all the go-phone charges reimbursed by them though ... about $50 total i think ...

i was SOOOOOO annoyed by all of that ... i ALMOST said forget it to the iphone - but i love it too much ....

you could not rip my iphone from my cold dead hands. I just think they are way better than blackberry's on so many levels. They are good babysitters when you need a few minutes, or your waiting at the doctors office, it has ll my tunes, sched. period tracker, not to mention its my gps-and i have my facebook and the internet wherever i go...the only con is they currently do not run flash so you can't always see videos.

There are twitter apps, have been for over the past year. I've had twitter since I got my blackberry. I use Ubertwitter with no problems.

My blackberry has my itunes too :) as well as movies. Has GPS and FB and Twitter, I have several email addys and flash. I can run a stopclock, listen to my music and check something on the internet at the same time. The lack of multi tasking was my biggest dislike in the Iphone. The Ipod Touch is the same way as is the Ipad. I multi task all day long.

Blackberry has a better messenging platform, and iPhone has better applications. It's all a matter of preference. My dh does mobile software development, so we have several kinds of all 3 phones around here (BlackBerry, iPhone, Android) so I've tested extensively.

It all comes down to what you use it for. I use mine almost exclusively for IMing, so the BB was the right one for me (the ability for my IM clients to run in the background was a big deal for me). If you don't care so much about IMing, than you'd probably like the iPhone better. The Android is in 2nd place for both.

But yes, there is a twitter app for BB. :P
