An embarrasing confession...

Okay I really am embarrassed to say this but, I think if I post this here....it may make me get off my buns and take care of it!

Um.....well, you see.....I still have TWO of my Christmas trees up. And these are not little trees. They are our two big trees, one upstairs and one downstairs. I had asked DH to take them down or at least the top sections cuz they are so heavy, ya know? Well, he hasn't done it and so neither have I.

But really Jeanye....it is like 2 months PAST Christmas now!!! They are such a normal part of the decor now that DD #1 just noticed them the other day. She was like "Uh, Mommy....the trees are still up! I didn't even notice". Now that is sad.....

You think if I just leave them anyone will notice? I mean...it's time to put them up again in 9 months.....is that too long?:p

Bwahahahahahaha

I had a good friend that left hers up one year all year round and then decided that she liked it so much she now leaves hers up for good. :)

NeeNee, Andrew just took our tree down last week; as a belated Valentine gift for me. LOL!! A couple years ago, our tree was up until May.

If we had a fake tree, I don't know when I would bother taking it down. Ours is real, so it becomes a fire hazard after too long. That's pretty much the only reason why I take it down, lol.

LOL!!! A few years ago I left my "snowman" Christmas tree up until the end of March....two years ago I still had my snowman decorations up until at least June...I forgot about them....don't know how b/c the shelf takes up 1/2 the family room wall and has pegs with all sorts of snowmen stuff hanging from them!! One GIANT snowman picture is still up from last year....it takes up a huge wall in the dining room and never got taken down!!!

When I was a kid we did that one year with a small artificial tree. It was great fun...I had forgotten about this..my DD would LOVE that!

We didn't put up a tree this past Christmas since we really have no extra space in our living room (tiny tiny room) and we went to my parents for the big day anyway. If we had there's a good chance it wouldn't have come down till yesterday when I finally got around to rearranging the room like I've been thinking about doing for months.

I'll join you NeeNee - we just took our tree down 2 weeks ago.

The funny thing is that I took all of the decorations off of it before New Years and then it just sat there LOL. Sometimes the kids would plug it in for a bit of festivity. It's also the perfect nightlight. Silver linings and all : )

In Slovakia there is a tradition to take down the Christmas tree on 6th January (The Three Kings), but I know people who are keeping them until Easter! So take it easy...

That's why we always take ours down on New Year's Day. Otherwise, who knows when we'd get around to it!

Oh my goodness..mine came down the day after Christmas lol...leaving mine up that long would drive me crazy :)

My great aunt though...had one of those formal living rooms that she NEVER used and she kept her tree up in there all year..she would cover it with a sheet though lol

Well... I can't talk... when I was traveling 70% for work, my tree would have been up until July 4th if my mom finally couldn't stand it anymore and took it down.

If I were you, go buy yourself some bird houses and nests and leave it up until next year... ;)

NeeNee! lol! mine always comes down the day after. by the time Christmas is over i'm so sick of it and ready for the dang holiday to be done with! lol

Oh thanks Neenee (& Robin). I thought I was the only one. Ours has been sitting in the front room with just lights on it -- but we stopped turning them on after Epiphany. I took it down last week and got it all packed away. It took days before I got a "Oh, I see you took the tree down." LOL.

LOL NeeNee! My house isn't big enough to allow for keeping the tree up. In fact we have to majorly rearrange furniture to get the tree in the living room. So I'm always excited about getting it down so I can reclaim the space. :p

We have this little Santa thingy on a spring that my DH put up really high out of my reach in the kitchen two years ago. It has a glass ball as its tummy and is kinda like one of those gazing balls you see in gardens only real small.

It is still there but only because when my oldest asked me why it was still out I told him that the ball was a spy camera and the North Pole was watching to see if he ate his vegetables.

:D

that's AWESOME!

my now dead real tree is still outside my front door. It was supposed to have been taken to my parent's house weeks ago. We actually took it out BEFORE Christmas because it was so dead. We put up a fake tree a week before Christmas.

lol we have to rearrange our whole living room for the tree so I HAVE to take it down so we can have some room again as soon as possible but that is funny......love that nobody is noticing that it is till up until now! :p

Last year when hubby was deployed I didn't get mine down until the kid's Spring Break (the end of March). ;)

Yes....mine is the same...I forgot to mention that. Mine are bare. Just the lone tree. No decorations on it and no other xmas decor up in the house. I took all of that down 2 days after Christmas!

See....I knew you girls would make me feel better.

And Nikki, I am such an OCD person about things like this normally that I really CANNOT believe that I haven't gotten them down. Very out of the norm for me.

But, reading all of your posts I think I figured out why! All of my adult life I have lived in homes with smaller living areas....we always had to rearrange for just one tree to go up. BUT....this house has huge rooms... so I don't have to do that. When the tree goes down, a quilt rack goes in it's spot upstairs. Easy Peasy. And the one in the office, just comes down and that spot stays open. I think it isn't bothering me because it isn't cluttered with them there. How weird...I never thought of it that way but I bet that is why. Cuz clutter drives me INSANE!

See...if my Mom were close enough she would have taken mine down already too. Oh how I miss my Mom coming over to visit and instead just cleaning my whole house. Bwahahahaha

We just took our outside lights down last weekend...that was embarrassing since everyone on the street drove past them every day.

I took down the Christmas decorations and tree a month ago, but they are still sitting in our dining room waiting to be put away. And the dining room table still has the Christmas tablecloth and settings on it. The only reason I notice is all this stuff is near the tray tables we put up for dinner each night. So add me to the negligent in post-Christmas duties, too.... :(
