I haven't cleaned up my EHD's in a while, and they were a MESS!! So that's what I'm doing now after fighting over taxes for 2.5 hours, lol. Wheeeeeee.....:blink:

So, if you haven't backed up lately, get to it! You never know when something might go wrong!

Actually, that's what I am currently doing. My main EHD made a noise tonight while its normally silent, so I thought, hmmm...better back up JIC. Its only been a month though since I last did.
 
Going through my entire SSD stash makes me realize I have NO reason to spend $$ anywhere else, lol. Good golly do I have a lot of SSD Stash! LOL!
 
I have 3 EHD's, but one (my oldest and smallest) is a photo only backup.
I keep my largest and newest EHD at work.
My husband refuses to pay for online backup, so I get the EHD's. I won't need another for a while though (I have a 500gb and a 1tb that have my scrap stuff on them).
 
Yep, I have 2 EHD. One is larger and plugged in always. The other is a little smaller (but I still have plenty of room) and portable so I normally unplug it when its not in use.
 
i should do this. i have bad luck with computers it seems. eventually my hard drives always fail, lol. i really want an EHD. i'm really curious about the online sites though.
 
UGH - I was just coming to post something similar. I was moving files from one EHD to another and I don't know what happened ... but I am MISSING my entire Libby folder and at least 1 other folder of layouts from a trip we took to Washington in 2007. At least those layouts were printed into an album.

I am not even sure what else is missing yet.

I do both. I backup to an EHD using backup software (Apple's Time Machine) as well as to Mozy.

If you were only going to do one method, I'd go with an extra EHD only because if something were to happen to your computer, it would take a LONG time for you to get everything downloaded off Mozy, where as your EHD files would be accessible right away.

Since I mainly use my laptop now my desktop has become a back up source (it's only used for that and occasionally my girls use it for typing up school reports), I back up to an EHD and I back up on DVD.
 
Love my Mozy - they backup my EDH as well - But I need to go through and clean out some kits - I also put all my pictures on smugmug
 
I had to chime in here. I just paid $1600.00 today to retrieve my files from a crashed ehd that we thought was backed up. The backup failed. I haven't slept in a week and my keyboard is still soggy from the tears. It had my son's first year on it, my sisters baby's newborn pictures, my sister in law's wedding, all kinds of stuff. Ughhhh. No fun.

Back em up good girls! It's been a very expensive lesson for me.
