Anyone live in Phoenix?

My mother is going to be moving to Phoenix Arizona ... she just got down there today to start looking for a house to buy ... she surprised me by buying me an airline ticket to come down there and help her find a house ...

...so I was wondering if there were any SSD gals that live in Phoenix? Not sure how much time I will have to visit...but surely I can get away for a Latte or cappuccino!

I live in Chandler about 25 minutes from the airport. When are you coming? I know there are several of us here, including Robin.

I know Amanda Barugh lives in Arizona now and I am actually headed down on the 10th of April to see her for the weekend if any of you AZ ladies want to put something together I can see how Amanda feels about schleping us around...

I come in next Thursday (March 18) in the afternoon and leave the morning of Tuesday (March 23). I would love to meet you all!

Aw man! I wish I had known about all you awesome ladies for the five years that I lived in Tucson! :(

Well, unfortunately a meet up with me might not be in the cards. We are heading out of town Friday night (19th) and will be gone for over a week. Friday morning or afternoon would be the only possibility, if I can break away from packing everything. What area is your mom looking in? Is she looking for a retirement community?

Ok I'm embarrassed to say I don't know what area she is looking for ... all I know is her bff lives around there and she is looking for one on a golf course & hopefully with a pool. I know that doesn't narrow it down. I'll have to ask her when I talk to her tomorrow. hmmm retirement community? I think it might be ... she said they drive around on golf carts, there are community pools ... oh yeah no young people ...must be a retirement community. lol

I'm thinking it might be fun to meet up at a coffee shoppe or something like that ... but will have to check with mom and see what we can work out (since I'm supposed to be there helping her find a house). ;)

What type of clothes should I bring for your weather? I'm wearing a turtleneck and cords right now ... and they are talking about snow here in Kansas City on Friday ... so no idea what I should bring to AZ for this time of the year ... I realize weather could change ...

Do you have a local channel I should check out on the web for weather?

Yes, those are retirement communities. I live by several of them including the town of Sun Lakes, which is exclusively retirement communities. I was just curious if she was looking in my "neck of the woods".

Here is a link to a local news site:

It looks like we are going to get up into the upper 70's and might reach 80 degrees around the time you get here.

Lol, I wear tshirts, jeans and flip flops year round :) Well shorts in the summer you know. It's beautiful today. Your going to love it Sharon! Good thing you aren't visiting in July :)

Holly - We should!! How fun!

I just asked and she said "Sun City West" (at least I think that is what she said) ... are you familiar with it?

wow that would be kinda cool! ... I am looking forward to getting away for a bit ... and nicer weather would be a definite plus from these gloomy days we have had lately.

So what is it like in July ... just HOT or hot and humid? It usually is about 103 and humid here in July ... except last year we were actually **COLD** at the drive-in !! First time in 14 years we were cold on July 19th (son's birthday)!

Mom is talking about keeping her house here in KS and coming back in summer and for the holidays.

Sounds like a plan if the other AZ girls wanna get together around there, I know nothing about Arizona so I am leaving this up to you all.

Sharon - no it's not humid just really hot! I think a lot of people do what your mom wants to do. We call them "snow birds" lol. But it is rough here in the summer! We are never cold here in the summer :) But it is really nice right now.

Sun City West is about an hour from me and 45 from the airport. I have never been there but I am pretty sure it is all retirement communities. I think...

I would like to meet you all too! Just let me know when :) March is clear but in April the 10th is my son't birthday so I am sure his party will be on that day... the 11th I'm free though if that would work.
