HELP! Missing Kits after Windows 7 install!

I installed Windows 7 last week to get rid of Vista (finally) and I just realized when looking through my scrap files that I now am 'missing' several kits  - most specifically from Kristin Cronin-Barrow, Scrapktichen and Zoe Pearn. Normally when I open the file I see all of my nice little PNG pics, but now if I click on them I get this message:

Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture because you don't have the correct permissions to access the file location.

I can't pull them in to PSE either and I don't know where to go from here - especially since I am no computer whiz! When I downloaded a new kit from Kristin last night, it did ask me if I wanted to copy it without encryption, to which I replied "yes" so I don't know if that means the others are now encrypted? If anyone can help me get my stuff back, please let me know!!!

Sorry, don't know how to help and wow that really sucks! Hope you figure it out. I'm so sick of Vista right now I am also thinking of going to 7.

Okay I'm not a genius but I do know my way around things... So my first thought is this- go to your png in the file, right click- General tab at the top and look at the bottom does it have this~

If so click unblock then apply. Let me know if that helps.

YIKES! Please let me know if this gets figured out ... I was SERIOUSLY thinking of going to Windows 7 on my laptop next week before I go out of town (that way the laptop & netbook are on same version of windows)....

Nope - it doesn't have that at the bottom...I'm thinking it has something to do with the "Windows Photo Viewer"?

"You can remove the encryption in bulk by Extracting All files from the zip, then selecting all the green files/folders as a group, right click, properties, advanced, then unselect "Encrypt contents to secure data"."

Seems to be the general consensus in that Microsoft TechNet thread that it's the Mac to PC issue, so if they're designed/zipped on a Mac, Windows 7 is going to tend not to like it, but it does appear to be reversible.

All your files ARE visible, right? None are actually missing, they're just in an encrypted format?

This is weird to me, cause I'm not having this issue and I upgraded to Win 7 like a few weeks ago. I've unzipped like normal. And trust me I have some of Traci's stuff ;)

Yes, they are still there -- I just can't "see them" because they won't open to a usable format. When I download stuff, I usually unzip it all, then save all of the PNGs, etc. in a folder - so will it work your way if I don't have the 'zipped folder'? I will see what I can do.

I think you can just select the affected files and just tell them to be unencrypted using the above method, from what I understand.

I don't have any guesses right now as to what it could be. I agree that it's something to do with mac vs pc. I use windows 7 and whenever I unzip a kit from KCB, Susan, Zoe, and anyone else who uses a mac I get this notice -

I just click yes, and it unzips fine. Not sure what exactly would cause the files to become unusable after switching over...

Are any of your dl links still active, maybe you could redownload some of them, and see if the new unzipped files work ok?

I say 'yes' to the message also, which worked fine when I did it this week, but my older files - not so much. Unfortunately, the links are not still active as it is stuff collected over the past year. I tried to 'unencrypt' them from the above suggestion and that did not work either
