View Full Version : Could use some P&PT
Felt like crap for 9 years, with quite a few wrong diagnoses, long story. Finally have a doctor willing to listen (nuerologist was no help 7 yrs ago). They found pernicious anemia, which in my case means my body has no intrinsic factor and can't abosorb b12. They've got me on daily shots and then tapering off, and that's helping quite a bit. My vitamin D is also extremely low, yet my diet is fine so don't know what's up with all of this. Going to the Dr. to talk about the rest of the tests they'll need to do tomorrow. Possibility of nerve damage because it (per. anemia) went on for so long undiagnosed....mine got to the point where I was having trouble swallowing, clumsy, memory problems and constant chest pain, and other stuff I don't want to bore you with. Wanted to ask for all the P&PT you have to spare :). Finally have a little hope that I won't have to go through every day in pain anymore! Woot!!! Thanks girls! Really, thank you for listening.

Goodness, I can't imagine how hard that must be to endure, and all without knowing exactly what was causing it. Prayers coming your way that the Drs find an effective treatment and that you improve quickly.

((HUGS)) Amy - so glad you were able to find someone who would listen and catch issues...praying for a speedy treatment and recovery!
FWIW - Vitamin D deficiency is huge among adults all over. We've spent a lifetime learning that to be in the sun is unsafe, staying indoors, wearing huge amounts of sunscreen, and it's one of the big movements now to get people to up their Vitamin D levels...it's a cancer fighter and an immunity builder, and helps our bodies build bones by aiding in the absorption of calcium (think osteroperosis). There are also links to it aiding heart health and how your body reacts to bad cholesterol. Just 10-15 min in the sun per day even with as little exposure as your hands and face, helps build vitamin D levels. Yes, wear sun screen if you're going to be out a long time, etc etc. But sun is the best way to build it. It helps build bone density, fight depression
Fish oils are also a great way to get Vitamin D. Cod liver oil (don't groan..you can get it flavored now :) ) is amongst the best..just a tablespoon a day is a great way to build so many things, including Vitamin D.
Sorry - didn't mean to go on a sermon or rant - with our change in diet and lifestyle..it's one of the things we've been researching quite a bit, lately.

(((HUGS)))
I'm sorry you had to deal w/ this for such long time before finally get diagnosed. I really hope things get only better and better for you!
P.S. - I would give a try on Cod Liver oil like Darcy said. It's an older than the world treatment. I'm always into less aggressive, cheap, natural treatments plus it worked for millions before us, so... think about it. :)

glad you were able to find out what was wrong...hoping for some good news for you when you go back!! So lots of P & PT coming your way!!
how did they figure out that that's what it was?
I saw a P.A. She has it too, and that's why she tested me for it. She recognized the symptoms, right down to me not being able to swallow. Been that way for a year which they thought was allergies, but the last 2 months had been almost daily.
Honestly, I had given up and just figured this was my lot in life, get over yourself and learn to live with it. But every time I had a photo shoot I was having to rest for a solid week, I mean do absolutely nothing or I just couldn't handle it....thank goodness the one I nearly collapsed at was for a longtime friend of the family.
So the photos that I loved so much pushed me to go back one last time.
Thank you all for the kind words and wishes and prayers. Things are looking up and I'm feeling better already. Nerve damage is hopefully reversible- I may be one of the lucky ones. I'm swallowing again already and today was only shot #5. No issues with needles anymore, they're my friends and will be for life.
Thank you Darcy! My D levels were 12, she wants them at least 50. Sunlight and supplements. :)
So now I have my epi-pen and b-12 shots. Look out world! And look out husband. Heeeheeeheeeheheee
