sooooo... anybody know anything about cameras?

okay, that's a silly question.

basically, i looked at the list of classes i need to take for school. and at the very bottom, it says "all students will need a 35mm SLR camera". which made me stop and flip out a little.

i'm not a photographer. i don't plan on being a photographer. and i don't think that a 35mm SLR camera is digital. which means it's film. and i've never really used a film camera. now, if i could find an slr that fits the description and is digital, that would be a different story. because i'd use it more. i think.

i also don't want to spend an exorbitant amount of money on something that i'm only going to use for a semester. and so far, every camera that fits the requirements is over $300.

can someone help? i don't know what to look for, i don't know the first thing about looking for a camera. i'm used to my little nikon digital one. so i'm asking you, the experts. because i know there are plenty of photographers on here.

SLR and DSLR are basically the same thing, however an SLR is film. Most college classes that aren't actual digital photography classes require a film camera because you will be processing your film on campus as well (it's part of the curriculum). You can find SLRs for pretty cheap nowadays because everyone wants digital. I have a Canon EOS Elan II.

I got a Canon Film Rebel a few years ago on Ebay really cheap for the film photography class I took. I sold it right back on Ebay after my class was over.
