I blogged today (http://sweetshoppedesigns.com/blog/?p=4557) about the August 10-point Hybrid Challenge, which is to create a Shaped Album and thought we could do some brain-storming here to get everyone thinking about their own projects. In the blog post, I've listed several additional ideas for other album shapes - what else can you think of? Has anyone else worked on their albums yet? I'd love to hear what you're planning and see some links when you finish!!! Share your projects / ideas here so we can all be inspired by each other and see that it's really not that hard!!
Here are some photos of my album - see TODAY'S POST (http://sweetshoppedesigns.com/blog/?p=4557) on the blog for close-ups and more details

I haven't started this one yet, but I have figured out what I'm going to (try to) do. My younger son is in Cub Scouts and this year he has to memorize all the Boy Scout "stuff" - motto, oath, law, etc. He's a little freaked out about it because it's a "lot" to memorize. (from the boy who could tell you everthing there is to know about every Pokemon character!) Anyway, I thought it would be neat to make him a little book with all the stuff he has to learn and I'm planning to do it in the shape of a fleur-de-lis.

I'm pretty sure I'm doing a tag album (haven't started it yet but the month is still young), but I love this bracket album template from Janet!

I just finished mine last night. I used the 'cupcake' from Kristin Cronin-Barrow's Sugar & Spice kit. I just love how it turned out!!
It's my nieces birthday this month. She is turning 9. I used pictures of her from a variety of ages (from baby to current) and included a picture of her as a baby with me! She's a budding scrapbooker herself, so I think she will really love this mini book!

I saw this in the gallery last night and LOVE it!! That is exactly what I had in mind when I suggested using an element from one of the kits!! FANTASTIC idea!!

Kate, that sounds like a WONDERFUL idea!! Can't wait to see it - and what an amazing keepsake for him to cherish - so much nicer than just writing it down on a piece of notebook paper that will eventually be thrown away or lost. My hubby is an Eagle Scout and I know he would have loved to have something like this from those early days - what memories it would bring back to look at now! (even without photos, but just all that "stuff").

I know you saw mine, Jen... but just putting it here if it helps someone else. I love shaped albums... totally need to do more!! I think the album is from Maya Road... kiddo did away with the packaging awhile back.

I'm working on a scalloped tag album that I thought would be great for our last cruise.
I was also thinking about using my Circut to cut out the shape of a word bubble and then using different fonts to record some of our summer quotes.
Using a bunch of different element shapes to make a mixed album would be awesome too. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

I love all these examples! I'm not so hot at handcutting, so I am going to create something easy to cut around - an Easter Egg shape - and use Dani's Honey Bunny kit that I already have use for my daughter's party invites and so on and create an album for her Easter themed birthday.
This really will be a challenge for me because I do not do mini albums. At all.

I'm working on mine right now but have a quick question because I'm still pretty hybrid challenged. LOL!
What do you all use for thicker paper. All I have is cardstock but it's pretty flemsy. Can I get some thicker paper from our scrapbooking store here in town? I don't usually go in there because it really overwhelms me.

Carrie I will print mine out onto photo paper (satin finish, really, really need to buy more!) and see how strong the pages are back to back. If I feel it needs more strength then I will simply cut some thin chipboard (eg cereal boxes) to use to create a more sturdy 'sandwich'.

I either triple layer cardstock and matte photo paper or use thin chipboard between cardstock/photo paper as a sandwich

Flatten them after they finished, and make them part of your scrappy stash. Do you have a neighbor with kids than can donate/hoard for you? So you can get enough faster?
