If you can't tell from my title, my EHD and I are in a bit of a fight. I want to move files over to it and it keeps giving me a I/O error. I'm about to lose my mind. I terrified that the drive is corrupted somehow and I have lost what is on the EHD. The only thing I can't replace on there is all of my photos from the last five years. Frick. If throwing this thing out the window wasn't a sure way to lose my photos, It'd be two stories down right about now...
Aaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!!!

Are you able to burn the files that are on it to a CD or DVD? I get an I/O error sometimes with my EHD that I use only to store my digital photos, but the problem is that one of the files I've downloaded becomes corrupted somehow not the EHD. I can usually tell which file it is by scrolling thru the files and there will be a problem with one of the thumbnails (it will be half gray or won't show up at all). Once I delete the file the error goes away. I always copy my photos over to my desktop hard drive when I load them off my CF card so they are in two places until I have enough to burn another DVD backup. That way if I have to delete a file off the EHD I still have it somewhere else. I have no clue why it happens though! Good luck getting your files Jenny!

Here's my update:
My super-hero hubby has saved the day. The problem wasn't with my EHD, but with my desktop (which we are about to wipe out and re-load everything anyways). So he hooked up the EHD to his desktop and moved everything over to a safer place. And he also found a corrupted file that would have caused some problems. SO... looks like I'm ok. I would have been sad to lose all of my digiscrap stuff, but the photos I would have lost would have been devastating, kwim? Thanks for all the support and ideas, girls!!
