Deleting PSD templates?

Okay, I think I suffer from delete-aphobia. I posted here before and y'all convinced me to finally delete my ZIPS -- all like 100 GB of them or whatever. Yeesh!

Now I'm wondering... Will I regret deleting my PSD templates when I have a TIF duplicate of it? I think that would free a fair amount of space, but I don't want to think later, "OH! So THAT'S why I should have kept those..."

TIA!

As long as you have 1 layered copy, you'll be fine...I keep the PSDs and throw away the TIFs though:)

Definitely toss the zips, they can get corrupted anyway and are pretty worthless once you've unzipped.

I only keep my TIFs and delete all the PSDs. I really like that the TIF files have a thumbnail of what template they are and the size is smaller (but spmetimes TIFs aren't saved correctly and are bigger than the PSDs, so I delete whichever is larger if there are both in a file)

I cant use TIF's with PSP so I delete them. I used to make a flattened JPG of the PSD so I would have a picture of what it is but havent done that in awhile. I really appreciate though when designers do that for you!! It is such a help when choosing a template!

I NEVER thought about deleting the PSD temps even though I only use TIF! I'm going to delete them all now and see how much space I clear doing it lol!!

This is me, too. I use PSP, and I can't use the TIF's... so I save PSDs and delete my TIF files.

I have everything in my working file and then at the end of the month I move it off my laptop and onto our home server. I can still access it if I want, but it's not cluttering up my main design computer!

as long as you can open the TIF ... that is what I would save. I actually will resave if I download templates that only come as psd because the files are so much bigger. I also delete the folder of PNG's and the jpg's

If you use TIF, get rid of the PSD - I did that (and made an action to convert the psd templates I had to TIF) and it saved me a lot of room!

I toss the PSDs. If templates only come as PSDs or if the TIFFs are saved incorrectly, I just save them with the proper TIFF settings then get rid of the PSDs and any JPG previews.

Of course, if you use PSP, you have to keep the PSDs. Maybe one day PSP will catch up and make layered TIFF files work in the program.

I always delete the PSDs and I've never had any regrets. You can always convert your TIFF back to PSD or vice versa. Now that I have a MAC I never have to worry about zips!
