Anybody tried this new curling iron thingy?

I havent but would love to hear if someone else has. I cannot get my hair to look good curly to save my life.

I am too uncoordinated for that. I would only accomplish to burn my head and fingers...and still have crappy looking hair. LOL

holy crap I just checked out the other site and it says that thing heats to 400 degrees. I would be to afraid to use it. I burn myself with a regular curling iron and I dont think they get near that hot.

You can do that with a regular iron, just pretend you don't have the clamp, lol! I've burnt myself, so... I stick with hot rollers. My friend's dd knows how to curl with her flat iron, but it never works for me!

eta: i have very long hair so this wrapping technique is really the only way I can get the WHOLE strand curly. If I clamp my hair with the iron starting at the end and rolling toward my head, the top never gets curled. I swear someday I'm just going to get all this chopped off!

Hmm. I do like the shape of the barrel. It would probably work better than most things on my stick straight hair. But, it does kind of look like a pain.

I have one sort of like this and used it for my daughter's hair for her father/daughter dance. It works nicely but in all honesty I find I get the same results just being patient with a regular curling iron. Oh yeah and it does take a bit to get used to it so you don't burn yourself.

my flat iron is 450 degrees! yep...it's extremely hot and i just have to be very careful. So far so good!

I dont really use curling irons anymore but that is hot!! I never really looked to see what temp mine goes to honestly. It may get that hot too.

doesnt heat that hot burn your hair though? That is what I would worry about. I mostly airdry my hair unless we have somewhere to go then I will blowdry it but even with the blowdryer I do not use the high temps and I only start when my hair is damp so it lessens the time the dryer is on it.

Mine does too, the hotter the better, it works much faster and does a better job.

I don't have hair long enough to curl, but I can see how that would work!

It only burns your hair if you leave it sitting on the curling iron for a long time. Same for a hair dryer.

Well, I bought it (Target had it on sale). I'll see how it goes. My current barrels are too fat (imo) to get the same results. I just need something different for the occasional special night out or something. Otherwise, I'm content with my casual approach to hair. :D

K - so I know I'm resurrecting a super old thread, but I'm just curious how you like this curling iron Krystal. Does anyone else have it? I'm considering getting it.

Well, yeah, it can... but you don't keep the iron in your hair long enough. And it's recommended to use a heat protecting product in your hair as well to protect it from damage. Even though it's up to 450*, you only have it on your hair for a very short amount of time... for me, I have chin length hair, and from root to tip, I pull the iron through in a matter of 1.5 - 2 seconds max. If it's not straight enough, I leave it for the hair to cool down, and do it a second time a minute or so later. I've never burned or damaged my hair yet!

when I was trying to figure out my daughters hair for prom last year someone recomended these:

http://www.sallybeauty.com/Curlformers/HAIRFLAR01,default,pd.html?cgid=Hair14-01

I didnt try them but checked them out on youtube and they seem really really easy and make really pretty curls. Just a thought if you were just looking for something to curl your hair

These things are AMAZING! I used them in DD hair and I love them. They were so easy to use and the curls were beautiful! I scrapped a page about them...

As for the curling iron, I've never even heard of it before. I am leery about using anything other than CHI, simply because my hair doesn't seem to like anything else.

CHIs now don't even work like old CHIs I'm finding (pretty sure they have changed where they are made)..I have crazy curls and I straighten my hair every time I wash it otherwise it's wild and crazy (unless i'm staying home then it goes in a ponytail)

My hair refuses to hold any sort of curl at all. Seriously, perms last less than a week before its back to stick straight. But either way, I would totally burn myself trying to use that thing.

This is me. My hair's just so heavy and thick. I'd love something that would make it hold curl, but haven't found anything yet.
