The kids are watching Food Network and I just learned what pork rinds really are.

ew!!!!! I figured they were just some kind of crunchy, salty chip thing

Yeah, it is kind of off-putting - and I feel guilty for still kind of liking it.

There's been a bit of an ad push over here to make them into a kind of trendy, traditional appetiser, rather than just a naughty, 'I-only-eat-this-when-I'm-very-drunk' snack. Funnily enough, I don't think its working

LOL I've always known what they were and I still like them, but I only eat them about once every 5 years or so.

Sometimes they scrape the fat off but considering that the fat disolves when fried it's a needless step.

Ok, so I have a general idea of what they are - I know my dad used to eat them ALL the time during football games lol. I liked them, and still like bbq ones... But I don't think I want to see exactly how they're made.

did you think they were called "pork rinds" because that is such an appetizing name :p ?

Well, I thought they were like Funyuns or something. THOSE aren't real onion rings, figured it was the same kinda thing!
