Help me find -- mother of the groom

Since you all are so chatty over here...I thought I'd ask for help in shopping.

My son is getting married in 5 or 6 weeks and I don't know what to wear and I'm tired of shopping! I'm such a large woman and that doesn't help either.

I finally found a simple black dress and figured I could dress it up with color with a wrap or shawl or scarf or jacket or whatever.

I don't want too much color.

I'm wanting to bring in the browns and greens from the wedding subtly.

Oh, what to do!

And it's in Minnesota in January....burrrrrr...I'm going to be freezing!

I need to buy some tights.

Hmmm ... I'm afraid I'm no help in the shopping department. Hopefully someone here will have some ideas.

Congrats on your son's coming wedding. Must be exciting!

No advice on the dress because I never, ever wear them, lol! But... congrats on your son's wedding!!!! I can't imagine that happening some day.

Oh, you all rock! I was so stuck, but I'm clicking your links and thinking...new ideas here!

I really love the scarves from this Etsy seller: pretty panda

Or what about a nice necklace? olive necklace

I really liked those pretty panda scarfs! I really like one that is ivory with nice texture to it. I may have to break down and get one.

This thread got me side-tracked again last night shopping until the wee hours of the morning and now I'm suffering today.

I am thinking velvet now per some suggests on Facebook and I found one online I like, but there's a local store, so I may head there on much lunch hour. If not, I may order it online. Cross your fingers! I SO need to get this done!

Well, I work for www.tjformal.com and we sell tons of MOB dresses and even some pantsuits.

I tried ordering an expensive dress with beads...I'm waiting for a credit back to my bank account. It's so not me! And the beads where under my armpits! Two layers of them for the dress and the bolero! Crazy uncomfortable!

I went to a local bridal shop and all the mother of the groom dresses are so "prom-y." I don't want that either. I want to look nice, but be plain without glitter and beads and prom material.

I'm thinking this one now. I'm just afraid of how it will fit!

Then I could go shopping for jewelry. I'm thinking Santa should bring me my first gold necklace that I've always wanted ...just a flat wide simple one that hangs low. Then I could find a slide for it.

Only thing is our stupid insurance just went up, so I'm thinking that I won't get anything for Christmas.

I'd ask the bride what color she would like you to wear. I know for my wedding, the bridesmaids were in periwinkle, the groomsmen in royal blue, and we asked all the family to wear lavendar, royal blue, and light green for photos. I loved that everyone coordinated and it made my pictures look wonderful, and with that range of choices just about everyone already had something to wear
