I just use cotton thread. Kitchen Cotton I think, or Cozy Cotton. It's over in the yarns. comes in assorted colors for projects but the plain, undyed stuff is what I use.

Etsy - usually the baker's twine there is from Divine Twine - can't justify buying that large spool.

I bought some on Etsy, and Martha Stewart also had some in Michael's that I got on super sale.

I sell Divine Twine in my ribbon shop (http://www.ribbongirl.co.uk/userimages/procart2.htm), it comes in a range of petty colours and is gorgeous to work with :) We ship worldwide too

It's really cute on hybrid projects in place of ribbon - or along with it! Especially if you get the cute colors!

Yes, Papertrey Ink carries several colors (red, green, blue, brown), and I just saw that The Cat's Pajamas carries GIANT spools of each color, but also smaller bundles. I have some from PTI and I do like it; I have not tried the twine from TCP, but I have heard good things... (I am a stamper as well as scrapbooker!). :)

PTI's prices seem really high to me for what you get.
I can personally say that Andrea's selection and prices are AWESOME in her Ribbon Girl (http://www.ribbongirl.co.uk/userimages/procart2.htm) shoppe!! :-) DEFINITELY check her stuff out - you won't be disappointed!
I've also splurged and bought the giant spools of some of the colors I use more often (red, black) from the Twinery. It's cost effect IF you're going to use a lot of it, but they are GIANT spools!
