PSE/PSE9 Users: Question?

After a year or so, I began to have trouble with my PSE8 (on a Mac) repeatedly crashing, so I upgraded to PSE9 during a great Amazon sale...

I just happened to notice when using the brush tool, though, that I no longer see a "preview" of the size/shape/etc. of the brush before I add it to my layout. The same seems to be true with my eraser tool as well (in that I can no longer see in advance exactly what I am going to be erasing).

Does anyone know if that is something that changed in PSE9, or if it is a default/preference that I can customize? Or a suggestion on where I can look?

are you saying that there isn't a circle when you use the brush or eraser? I have PSE9 and can see where I'm brushing or erasing. I wonder if the brush size is just so small that you don't see it... I'd try increasing the size of the brush to see if you see it.

That's it, I do not see a circle with the eraser tool (or the shape of the selected brush for the brush tool)... I used to see it, and wondered if something had changed with my upgrade or if a preference or setting needed to be reset (but I couldn't find anything)...

No change with increase/decrease to the size...

Do you, by chance, have your caps locks on?

Nope, no caps lock...

Weird. I am on PSE 9 (I had 8 and 6 previously) on a Mac and I don't have that issue. I still see the circle or shape. Hmmmm......I have no suggestions. I guess if all else fails, uninstall and reinstall? I don't know. SORRY!

I see a tiny plus sign with an open middle sometimes instead of the actual tool I'm using. My eyedropper tool will sometimes change itself too. IDK what it is. I check to make sure it isn't a size issue and then just close and open and it goes away. Nice to know it isn't just me though!

OK I just opened my PSE and messed with the settings and I couldn't find any way to turn the brush preview off in your work area unless a. You have caps locks on OR b. Your current brush size is way bigger in pixel size than your work area.
But since (I'm guessing) your working on a LO your brush pixel size shouldn't be bigger.
