Gift Question

On Wednesday nights for the past few weeks a classmate has been taking me home (almost 8 miles return in the opposite direction to where she lives) after buses either are very late or not turning up at all. I say thanks to her each time but it doesn't seem enough - I don't know much about her other than what type of work she does and that she has a child or two so other than chocolate (which she doesn't really like) or petrol vouchers which seem too obvious I am clueless as to what to get her. I need to figure out something by the end of the month as our last class is July 6th.

Yeah my first year of college I rode to and from with a friend, and it was slightly out of her way - not a ton like 15 minutes, and I jut gave her $25 each week for gas.
Maybe, since you don't want to do the gas voucher thingy, you could see about taking her and her daughter out for dinner or lunch one day?

If you're doing the Portfolio challenges this month, you could make her a small bucket with a gas station gift card, a few other little things (like some non-chocolate candies or homemade cookies), and a thank you card.

I did something similar for teacher appreciation gifts last month.

If you don't want to do gas cards, maybe a gift card for something she could do with her kids, like the movies (if they're old enough), a restaurant, or other things nearby.

This is an AWESOME idea!

That bucket was absolutely adorable, love the idea. I have seen quart sized paint cans (from hardware or paint stores) done also, with paper and clear contact adhesive over them and curly ribbon on top. If you don't have the time for that, any type of basket or box you have on hand would be fine though.

Here's a couple sites for some inspiration:

You could always do a small petrol card to recognize the expense she had in gas, and pop in something sweet, like a bookstore gift card (she could use this to get books to read with her kids or one for herself), or a gift card for a restaurant or better yet a drink shop or bakery. YUM BAKERY!

Does she ever have a drink with her in class? tea, soda, coffee. smoothie? Could you do a mug, glass, or an insulated plastic bottle cover?

Anyway, you are super sweet for wanting to express your thanks. I'm sure she'll be appreciative no matter what you decide.
