Who wants to do Flat Stanley with my family this summer?

So, here at the Reed household, Flat Stanley is on our list of things to do this summer. The gist is that you mail this fun little doll all over the country (world) and everyone takes Flat Stanley to a local place of interest (national monument, capitol, the beach) or somewhere that makes where you live special and takes a picture and writes a little blurb about it and then mails it on to the next person.

I was thinking we could set up a little facebook group or forum where we share the pictures and the blurbs and at the end of it, we have a billion pictures of Flat Stanley all over the world with our online family and the kiddos learn a bit and have a lot of fun with it!

I'd like to set it up in the most efficient mailing order possible so that transit time is minimal. My idea is to gather all participants addresses (JUST me, they would not be distributed among the group - the only other person that would have your addy is the person sending you Flat Stanley) and then set up a path for Stanley across the country and maybe even the world since we have so many online friends in other countries.

I know that we could all print our own flat Stanley and take a picture but part of the fun is the "penpal" effect to see the same doll through all his travels

I'll do it. I live in Akron, Ohio...we have a few places I can take him.
This will be something I can add to Kennedy's baby book. lol
 
Too bad you didn't start this last week, we just got back from a mini-vacation to coastal NH & Maine. But we have some interesting (& historical places) here in VT that flat Stanley would love to visit :p

I'm asking my mom if she wants our family to join in. I don't have a little one (well, I will in July, but...)

I may still participate solo, but it would be a lot easier if my family was chiming in to help (I live with them, so it's not like he'd be going anywhere else). :P
 
Traci - remember to send your Flat Stanley to the White House and your Govenor's house. I know when we did this with Connor - we got an awesome package back from the Bush's and Perry.

We still need to do ours for Aiden...it's his turn now!

So Traci, let me just clarify this - we'll be sending around your kiddos Flat Stanley to someone else etc.? Or will we be getting the Flat Stanleys of others people kiddos too? I don't mind either way, just wanted to clarify.

We just sent him to the White House - they have a special office that deals with stuff like that, and we got a package back from them. We did send a SASE with him, but the package we got back was huge. I cannot remember if our Stanley came back or not...it's been 6 years or so, but Connor was just gobsmacked at getting a package from the White House. We'd sent out a dozen or more Stanleys because it was easier than trying to round robin with who we sent him to, so one MIA was fine.
 
I'm in......I can take Flat Stanley to a few places here in San Antonio and on a bike ride or two....He can be a biker for a day....:thumbup:
 
I have two places I am planning on taking him. One local to the town I live in and then probably Sea World. Maybe the Cocoa Beach Pier or Ron Jon's Surf Shop. My niece will totally love doing this!!
 
I'm in! My DD's gonna love this! I have two places in mind...St. Louis Arch (of course) and Busch Stadium! Home of my beloved Cardinals...
 
We could take him to the Stein Castle ruins here in Holland and I'm sure we can think of another place or two to take him. :)
 
yep. either you send to me or vice versa. I was just out your way the other day. We went to the aquarium and the zoo in Tampa

Oh I wish I had had him when we went to the zoo. I could have taken his picture at The Sweet Shoppe :)

I'm in! Might have to travel a bit around... hit Laumbeau field... picture with some cheese... hee, hee... I'll have to keep this in mind for kiddo when he is a bit older, I know that even at 4, he just isn't going to care... ;)
