Citronella bracelets...have you used them?

We camp almost every weekend in July and my mom and I saw something online about citronella bracelets that we thought might be good for the kids to have on. Have you used them? Which ones? Do they work?

I am VERY interested in the answer to this, because if my DD and I step outside for 2 minutes, we are eaten alive with mosquitoes. I hate going outside because of it and that's a shame!

I've heard they work really well after you've had them on for a couple of days.

We use Avon Skin So Soft and it works wonders!

OK, mosquitoes...this is what DH recommended.

Back when he was in the army, he was stationed in Panama for a few years. The mosquitoes were horrible...malaria, etc...and so he and his pals started drinking a spoonful of vinegar every day. BLECH I know...but acc to him, after a few weeks, they stopped being bitten.
No way was I doing that, but I DID start eating a dill pickle every day, and I went a good 3 or 4 years without a single bite (and in Houston, that was amazing). I stopped about a year and a half ago, and wouldn't you know...I'm getting bitten again. So I guess I'll start eating pickles again.

thats awesome! Any excuse for me to eat dill pickles works for me!

my dh and the boys just got back from their camping trip. dh picked up the bracelets for 99 cents at Walmart. my oldest always gets bites even with spray. he wore the citronella bracelet and only had one bite - he said he wasn't wearing the bracelet when it happened. the bracelet supposedly lasts 200 hours. dh gets bit a lot too - no bites. i'd say that's a good testimony!

Id love to find a solution because we have this drainage ditch...its more like a flippin canal its so deep next to our house. Well the county came out and dug it out so if we have a bad storm it wont flood. Only that makes the mosquitoes a zillion times worse. I get bit at night and even during the day.

Oh but you know what my husband swears works? To get cattails from a pond and light them. He says that keeps all the mosquitoes away. So you know if you are campnig and have a campfire or even a grill grab a few of those if you get near a pond and try it LOL

I'll have to get these for when we go to Joplin in 2 weeks. Those Missouri mosquitoes LOVE Arizona blood. :P

A friend of mine used the bracelets at GS camp this weekend and she still got bitten. Me and my daughter just sprayed and we didn't get bit. I didn't know that about vinegar. I do throw vinegar into my wash, I wonder if that's why we didn't get bit.

According to the hubby, the vinegar has to build up in your system...so start eating those pickles 2 or 3 weeks ahead of time :)

I have never used the bracelets but just have to double what Leah said!
I'm a scout leader and thats a lot of time outdoors getting bitten then we discovered the Avon Skin So Soft and it is AMAZING I havent't been bitten since was tempted to beocme an avon lady to get it cheap lol x
