s/o - need a fabulous stuffing recipe!!

My dad is having surgery and will be staying with us afterwards and since my divorced parents do not get a long - my mom and her stuffing aren't coming to Thanksgiving... so I need a homemade stuffing recipes - please have it gizzard free... (that is what my mom makes her dressing with - uck... not a fan of that tiny organ)

I always use the Pepperidge Farm Herb Seasoned bags of stuffing (or croutons... whatever). Saute some celery in butter (the amount of butter on the recipe on the bag), add the amount of broth that's in the recipe on the bag, a bunch of onion powder (could use onions but my dh hates them) and poultry seasoning.

When I make it for work this week, I'll stop there. When I make it for family, I throw in a handful of very finely diced walnuts. I'm telling you the walnuts make the dressing special. Can't add them for work due to allergies.

Edited to add... I always make it early and then put it in the crock pot to warm. The crock pot locks in the moisture and I think that's one reason my sister loves my stuffing.

I make a pretty awesome cornbread dressing.

It's my Mama's recipe, much better than any stuffing I've ever had.

I always use the Mrs. Cubbison's Bread Stuffing mix (comes in a nice box) that you can buy in the store. Then, it has a recipe to saute onions and celery in butter and then add the bread stuffing mix and add chicken broth, and it's absolutely killer good! (and simple to make). Def a crowd pleaser at my home. Good luck!
