Using SSD kits for blogs?

I'm a total newbie when it comes to this digital stuff (fell in love with it in June before my precious twins were born!). Anyways, is there any rules against using kits from SSD to make my blog headers/ backgrounds etc? Do the designers frown upon it, or anything like that? If I do use a kit, I'm planning on putting "elements from _____ kit by ______ designer" then maybe a link to her website, or something like that at the bottom. I just want to make sure it's ok before I take the time to do it!

Usually, the designers just ask that you contact them for permission to do that, so just send them a PM or email and they're pretty good about getting back to you quickly!

As long as it's for your personal blog, and you're the one designing it (meaning you're not paying a blog designer to do it for you), I'm totally fine with you using my kits for that purpose. The only time I charge an additional fee is if there is a blog designer involved or if it's a commercial blog/site where you're selling a product or service.

I think most of us are ok with this use, but I'd be inclined to send a PM to the designer who's product you'd like to use just to verify that they're cool with it. :)

I'm in the same boat as Libby..for YOUR personal blog it's fine but if it's for any other blog I require permission first.

Good to know! thank you everyone! I haven't decided if I'm actually going to do it or not (not enough time in the day) but I wanted to keep my options open!

Libby, do you live in Wichita, KS? I live there too :) I've never known anyone online that lives in the same area as me! haha!

Oh how funny! Yep, I'm in Wichita... there are a few of us here! We really need to plan another Wichita get-together.

Is your dh stationed at McConnell? My hubby spent the last 8 years of his career there before he retired in 2008. :)

He was an education & training manager and spent his last year over at the medical group before he retired. What about your husband?

Mine is LRS (logistics readiness squadron) he runs the flight service center right off the flight line! education and training manager? That sounds fun! :)

Oh cool! And I see you just had twin boys in August? How FUN is that!?!? We're having a little girl in February... we'll have to get together for a play date sometime! :)

I used kits for my blog and I have asked the designer whose kits I often use for that purpose for permission. I also credit them on my blog with a link to the kit and the general SSD store.

I got back an email from all of them within 15 minutes! And I am abroad....
