Twitchy eye

Grrrrr my left eye has been twitching for over a week now, and it's starting to drive me bonkers.

From everything I've googled (dangerous, I know), it seems that it happens a lot in pregnancy, and it's thought to be a symptom of exhaustion and stress (guilty on both counts). I also read something about a calcium deficiency, but I take a calcium supplement already (mom has severe osteo, and I don't want to go down that path).

Aside from resting more (which I've been doing), does anyone have any tips or tricks to make it STOP!?!?

My mom once figured out that if one eyelid was twitching it was from stress. If it was the other eye, it was from lack of sleep. I don't remember which was which, but my eyes twitch a lot - usually when I'm stressed. Hope it stops soon Libby, cause it's very irritating, I know.

I don't know how to make it stop but when I was pregnant with Ainsley I had a twitchy eye for months. It was so irritating, it happened a lot but it did eventually go away. And....um....stay off the web, every symptom you look up turns into a death sentence :p

Libby do you also take a magnesium supplement!?!? Magnesium helps the body absorb calcium so if you aren't getting enough magnesium, your extra calcium might not be helping!!

I actually learned this while nursing (calcium helps keep your supply boosted once you start menstrating again) and I took a combo supplemt from Wal Mart that was calcuim/magnesium/zinc!!

Here was the info I had (again it's about breastfeeding) but I'm sure if you google calcium/magnesium you will get tons of info supporting you need both!!

Oh thanks Elizabeth! I actually do have a magnesium supplement that was to be taken for something else... when that condition got better, I stopped taking it. My ob has already ok'd it, so I'll try adding that to my calcium/vitamin regimen!

I had a twitchy eye off and on with both girls while I was pregnant with them. Just figured it was from the tiredness/stress, lol. I hope it stops twitching soon!! (((hugs)))

ugh - I had that too when I was working and would be tired... sometimes if I just but a cool compress over the spot it helped for a bit....

I've also heard that if you have twitching muscles, you could be low (and in some cases too high) on Vit D... so maybe sitting in the sun or having a supplement might help...

I had twitchy eye for about 3 weeks not too long ago. I'm sure it was stress related but it about drove me bonkers too..it was my underlid on my right eye and it would twitch all day long. No advice on how to make it stop though so I'm no help
