Photo session help...shoot this afternoon

Figured I'd post in here and see if anyone has any ideas or help on this one.

I have a session this afternoon for 2 boys...5 & 7. The 7 yr old is autistic. His mother said he is completely non-verbal but photogenic. The main problem she said is getting a smile. I'm going to have a mini consult with her before we start so I know what might work but does anyone here have any ideas?

Oh and what about poses? We are doing the session in their home, in front of their fire place. I've been searching pinterest but I'm not having much luck.

Not much help from me I'm afraid, but I'm sure the parents will know a few ways of getting the lil fella to give a grin and the poses etc that he will be most comfortable . . my little one is a shocker when I'm trying to get her to smile, but I have found making her older sister giggle helps . .

Good luck!!

Would they be willing to light the fireplace? I thought this was cute....

Or how about one of them looking "up" in the fireplace like they are waiting for Santa?
