Lego Games Questions

DS (age 8) got several of them for Christmas last year and he loves them. We have Creationary (a little tough for little kids), but he loves the Minotaurus game and well as several of the smaller ones.

I have a 5.5 and 6.5 year old and they really like Creationary. It's a little tricky for them, but it's a fun challenge. They also like Minotaurus (sp?) a lot, and the other theme ones look similar to it.

We have Creationary. I love the idea more than the actual game, simply because it's a lot harder than it looks! And, you definitely need extra pieces from your own stash to really build some of the things they come up with ;) We have the lego Race game - I wouldn't recommend it, pretty boring. However, my son (8) loves the Heroica games! He started with one and now has three. Once you have all four, you can build one huge game, so he's hoping to get the last one for Christmas.

Thanks everyone. I think we might start with Creationary. I'm always amazed and the tiny little things he comes up with, so he'll probably beat us all at it.

Still keep your thoughts coming as I'll be watching for deals on all these types of games.

Creationary is great - but is harder for the younger crowd or those not into Lego that much. And yes, definitely use your stash - makes it easier.

We loved the ideas of the other games, but they aren't played much. Thankfully we got to try them out at friends' houses before buying any. But even the friends' moms said after the first week of OHHH!, they're not loved now, bu thte parts have been integrated lol. Creationary is the one we stuck with and am glad we did!

We had a couple of the earlier ones. My DS kind of plays with them -- but the problem is that they have so many little parts and he's lost a bunch of them, or they're now mixed in with our larger Lego stash. So, if you get the games, make sure they are careful to pack it up when they're done.

we have creationary and the boys enjoy playing it - my ten year old more than my seven year old. but that's just because my ten year old is a lego nut.

We have the minotaur one.....and truthfully, though I tried to be vigilant about keeping it together, pieces have gradually disappeared and joined the main lego stash. They would rather play with them as Legos, instead of in a game.

Our favorite family games tend to be simple one like Blink (FAST card game). dominoes (especially a version called 'Chicken Foot' that my MIL taught us) and Sorry.

My twins have pretty much every single Lego board game, except Creationary, and they are played with a lot. We haven't lost any pieces. I asked them what would be good for that age and they really like Minotaurus, Pirate Code (I play that with them alot), Frog Rush, and Wild Wool. The Harry Potter one is really fun too.

They've never been disappointed with any of them, so I don't think you can go wrong.
