I Need an Easy Dessert Recipe

Show me your yummiest, easiest dessert recipes. I have to bring a dessert to a church function Wednesday night and I have very little time to spend baking in the next couple of days. I'm looking for something fairly simple. Bonus if it is something my nearly-4yo can help with (she's actually quite good in the kitchen).

You gals always have great ideas.

This is my go-to church function easy dessert recipe. It's SO yummy, and there are rarely any leftovers (I even got a marriage proposal last time I took it. LOL)

Banana Pudding

1 box instant vanilla pudding
1 box instant banana cream pudding
1 cup cold water
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup sugar

Mix pudding, milk and water in large bowl.

In separate bowl, mix whipping cream and sugar with a mixer until stiff.

Stir cream mixture into pudding mixture and layer in dish with sliced bananas and nilla wafers.

That's it! Easy peasy. I often double the recipe to make a bigger batch.

Jello Pretzel Salad
by Lisa Poulsen
2 1/2 c. pretzels (crushed fine)
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
3/4 c. butter
1 (6 oz) pkg instant strawberry jello
1 10 oz. pkg. frozen strawberries or small container (16 oz) sliced fresh strawberries (I prefer fresh)
1 ( 8 oz ) pkg cream cheese
1 c. sugar
8 oz. cool whip

Combine pretzels, brown sugar, and melted butter and press into a greased 9 X 13 pan. You can use more butter if the crust isn't sticking together and make the pretzels more crushed than I did. Bake @ 350 for 10 minutes.

Make jello according to directions and add the strawberries. Refrigerate until partially set. *If it is not set enough it will leak through your cream cheese layer and make your pretzels soggy.

Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Blend in cool whip. Spread over cooled crust make sure you pread completely to the edges to create a seal so your jello doesn't leak through. Pour jello over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate.

Mmmm tracy, my former MIL used to make that jello salad all the time, and I LOVE it. I wasn't about to ask her for the recipe though! LOL

I've made that Jello Pretzel Salad several times, and everyone always loves it. It has been specifically requested at a few of hubby's family gatherings.

That Pig Cake looks so yummy and makes me wish I had some Cool Whip in the house.

Libby - I actually saw it on Pinterest. My husband's family makes it every Thanksgiving and I've never gotten the recipe from them. Hopefully I'll get to eat some this Thursday :)

Husband's Delight:

crust:
1 c four
1/2 c. butter melted
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 c. chopped pecans (sometimes I leave these out if I don't have any on hand)

Mix ingredients and then press into the bottom of a 9x13 in casserole dish. Crust should be thin. Bake at 250 for about 10 minutes or until golden brown...watch it carefully b/c it can burn easily.

Bottom layer:
8 oz cream cheese
1 1/4 c. powdered sugar
1/2 large container cool whip
1 tsp vanilla

Mix all ingredients in the bowl of an electric mixer until creamy. Pour onto top of cooled crust.

Middle Layer:
1 large pkg chocolate instant pudding
1 1/3 c. milk

Mix pudding and milk by hand about 50 strokes...pudding should be thick. Layer on top of cream cheese layer in casserole.

Top Layer:
remaining cool whip

This is always a huge hit. Never a bite left.

my girls love to make this with me and it's soooooo yummy

2. Prepare chocolate sauce topping for that beat together the ingredients mentioned for the sauce and set aside make sure that batter is thicker than normal chocolate sauce.
3. Now take a wide and deep dish and make a layer of whole graham cracker at the bottom of dish and spread half of the pudding batter onto the crackers. Repeat this pattern of layer one more time and then spread the prepared chocolate sauce onto the crackers.
4. Place this dish in fridge to chill for at least an hour and then cut into pieces before serving.

My mom makes the strawberry jello salad too... however my family prefers the crust similar to what Nikki posted in place of the pretzels... my FIL will eat the whole pan if he could... and it usually is the desert that my hubby requests for his birthday cake.

Another easy pease and awesome dessert is Angel Lush... yum! You can also use it with a yellow or white cake... or make the lush part and put it on cupcakes... or just eat it... *homer simpson drool*

http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/angel-lush-51103.aspx

1 can (20 oz.) DOLE Crushed Pineapple, in juice, undrained
1 pkg. (1.5 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Fat Free Sugar Free Instant Pudding
1 cup thawed COOL WHIP LITE or COOL WHIP Sugar Free Whipped Topping
1 pkg. (10 oz.) round angel food cake, cut horizontally into 3 layers

MIX pineapple and dry pudding mix in medium bowl with whisk until well blended. Stir in COOL WHIP.

STACK cake layers on plate, filling layers and topping with pudding mixture.

REFRIGERATE 1 hour. Top with berries just before serving.

We make something very similar to this - we call it chocolate eclair icebox dessert. Made with vanilla pudding (also calls for cream cheese). And we top it with one of the small tubs of frosting though sometimes we make the frosting ourselves :)

We make a slightly different version of this (with graham cracker crust) and it's always a huge hit. My MIL often does it half butterscotch, half chocolate. I prefer butterscotch. :p

I make pudding pies every year for Thanksgiving. You take an Oreo crust and mix up two boxes of Turtle Pudding mix (seasonal) and pour it into the shells. Top with whipped cream, chocolate magic shell, and some caramel sauce. Ta-da, done.

I also get a graham cracker crust and mix up two boxes of the pumpkin spice pudding. I top it with whipped topping, and sprinkle a little pumpkin pie spice around the edges as a garnish.

Super easy, pretty inexpensive (my store had bunches of pudding coupons which made it really cheap...)
