Going to Disneyland....

We are surprising our boys with a trip to Disneyland this coming Wednesday. I have all of Julie's kits, Melissa's kits and Megan's kit. What else do I need? I think there was a Toy Story inspired kit done?

Help! Thanks!!!

The Toy Story one I have is by Mandabean. Traci had a collab which is toy-storyish. With Dani Mogstad I think? It was called Outta This World.

We were planning on going to Disney World on December 2nd but its not going to happen. :( Now we're thinking maybe February.

I am so jealous of you all. I've never been to Disney and would love to go - should add I have never been to America either so I would have to get there first of course :p

I bet it's even more magical at Christmas

We just went to Disney in April with our robotics team for a competition ... I'm scrapping those pictures of the trip (not the robotics part) for our wall calendar right now!!

...and I am going back to Disney in January!!! ...just me and not my kids...my teens are jealous! oh well ... a mom has to have a perk once in awhile ... it's a "girls trip" ... I have a friend that owns 2 rental properties 15 minutes from the parks (it's where we stayed in April)... she needs to go down and do a few things to the houses ... nothing major, just redecorating a bit and freshening it up ... picking up a few things the houses might need, etc. and asked if I wanted to join her ... and we can go to the Parks for 3 days and shopping on another!!!

It will be great ... we can enjoy the Parks at our own pace and go shopping! ...we caught a good airline rate ... and can stay at her house and cook our meals there ... so my only real expense is the Disney parks tickets ... that's my Christmas present and birthday present (birthday is in January) from my hubby. Doesn't that sound like fun?!

Maybe Meg will be inspired to do another kit when she returns ... ??? I'm sure we could all give her suggestions ... maybe she could do some of the fun restaurants like the Prime Time Cafe, Sci Fi Drive In, etc.

Tips:

Sci Fi Drive In (Hollywood Studios) is fun ... you sit in 50's style cars in the dark watching black & white mini sci fi shows on the drive-in screen ... a waitress comes to your car to take your order (or maybe that was a car hop) ... any way if they haven't added the "hamburger" to the menu (it hadn't been added back in 2009) ... you can order it ... my boys were afraid they wouldn't want anything on the menu (they are super picky).

50's Prime Time Cafe (Hollywood Studios) is fun ... it's set back in the 50's and the decor is so much fun ... waitress demands (in a fun perky way) best table manners and there is a lot of fun acting going on ... but the best part is their pot roast!!! Oh my ... major yummy! ...accidentally my pictures got erased off my memory card ... right now I have a guy looking at it and HOPEFULLY I will be able to get my pictures back!

Now we're trying to figure out one place to eat at the parks ... I need to sit down and figure that out in hopes that we can get reservations (I'm almost as picky as my kids on food) ...

I can't believe I am going again ... I went in 1984 for our honeymoon ... then didn't go back until our 25th wedding anniversary (2009) ... then in 2011 for a robotics competition ... then again in January 2012 with my friend (it will be nice not to be rushed around by kids ... but will miss that too)....

My friend, Lara, who I am going with bought 100 pins on Ebay too ... so I have 49 to trade (one was a Jiminy Cricket ... and I don't trade those!) LOL Got any Jiminy ... I'll trade with you!

All this talk of Disney and you all got me craving the pot roast at the Prime Time Cafe ... so I pulled out a roast to thaw ... here is the recipe ... my friend Lara changed it just a bit ...

http://allears.net/din/rec_pr2.htm

I added:
2 additional carrots
total 4 c beef fouillon
1/4 c soy sauce
whole peppercorns (remove after baking)

....it really tasted close to the real thing at the restaurant ... yum!

I had one last time we went...:( I will keep an eye out for you when we go. we have 5 kids so they each get 10 pins a day to trade.

When are you going in January? Land or world?

I wanna say we will be there from the 13th of Jan. til the 16th.

I'm going to Disney World ... leaving on January 10th for Florida and will be home on the 17th ... I think I am going to get a 3 day park hopper for that time.

Do you all know about the Photo Pass and if you buy it ahead of time it saves you at least $20? I love the photo pass although this time since there won't be kids going ... I doubt we will get it.

Yep! We are definitely doing the photopass. I read that its $150 if you get it at the parks but we pre-ordered for $99!

No- we decided not to spend the extra money on that and use it for a day at Universal Studios so we can go see Harry Potter world! YAY!

I'd like to go see the Harry Potter world ... but my teenagers would hate me ... so I'm not going to do it ... they wanted to do it in April (2011) but it was just too busy with robotics and going to Magic Kingdom (not to mention expensive) ... figured it wouldn't be as busy when we go back next time hopefully.

It's a great deal ... be sure to hunt down every photo pass photographer you can find! I know when we went 2 years ago I found a spot on a website that gave an idea where the photographers all hang out ... that helped a lot. Just a word to the wise (2 times experience) ... plan on spending a *TON* of time editing your photos online ... you can save them at different sizes with a lot of different borders ... doesn't matter how many pictures you "save" and end up with in the end ... they will ship them all to you on DVD...but their website is slow slow slow slow ...did I mention S-L-O-W? It did not get better in 2 years ... just so ya know.

Yeah we know about the photo pass but we usually just take all our own pics. And I don't know I am not a huge fan of the "ride" pics they snap while you look all weird with your mouth hanging open and what not...So we probably wont be getting the photo pass.

Well I think only 2 rides allow you to put the ride pic on the photopass for FREE (Rock N Rollercoaster and Test Track) ... the rest charge you...so I wouldn't let that determine purchasing it.

Did you know that the photopass photographer will take pictures of your whole group with your own camera? No purchase necessary ... go ahead and accept the photopass card ... you don't have to buy the pics ... but you get the shots on your own camera. Just a lil hint in case you didn't know...
