How would you do this?

I LOVE this photo display from Pinterest. I have stairs and I have 4 boys so I would love to do this, but it has to be cheap-cheap-cheap.

The pin does not lead anywhere with helpful hints since it's from a movie. http://pinterest.com/pin/224194887669808284/

I can print the photos myself, but how to frame? Put them on black foamboard?

And even though it's supposed to be a photobooth collection of photos, it might be cool to do pics from different times in their lives.

Any ideas on how you would pull this off?

What if you backed each photo with black cardstock to get the right look, then glued/attached them to a thin piece of plywood cut to the right dimensions (12x48, I assume)? You could spray the sides of the wood black to blend in. I would think that if it's only 1/2 inch or so thick, you won't notice the sides at all, but it would give you a little dimension off the wall.

ETA - you might also go to a frame store and look around. They might be able to offer suggestions or cut something to back it for you if you ask.

Print the photos - Costco is super cheap for 12 x 12. Then frame in 12 x 12 thin black frames from Michael's. Hang them so they look like one continual strip. Maybe even attach them in the back so they don't move around on the wall.

I'm not sure if this is cheap-cheap-cheap but what about plaquing at Costco? I do birth announcements for friends and love to enlarge the announcement, print it as a photo, and plaque it - it turns out beautifully!

PS Is that David Duchovny?

Yes, it's him - that's from a movie he was in. The other 3 are actors too, I just don't remember who they are.

Thanks for the suggestions - still thinking on this!

looks like they could be record frames, which are generally thin frames. They have them at Michael's craft store here and they always seem to be running a sale on frames, or have a 40% off coupon out. You could probably do it for cheap!

The movie is The Joneses with David Duchovny and Demi Moore! That photo display is awesome, the moment I saw it in the movie I knew I would want something like that someday! Let us know if you end up doing it!
